I’d like to see us go after Justin Houston. He’s had some injuries and he’s not the youngest and took a backseat to Chris Jones and dee ford, so he isn’t a sexy name thus not likely getting top dollar, he can be signed immediately, and won’t count against comps, and he could be a really good 2-3 year option. He fits all the needs to help us contend while lamar is on a rookie deal.

Would love this signing and would remind me of a dumervil signing

Posting the source for saying trey flowers gonna get 17 mil from someone? I dnt think thats source posting worthy
it takes a second to post a source. I'm not saying you have to do it every time, but to your best to post sources when you have news worthy information, it's not that difficult.

my point is the way they grade linebackers is weird - they weight certain things weirdly and it means that CJ is perennially undergraded - im not saying they're biased against mosley just that their grading system is incredibly flawed when dealing with linebackers

and him being bad in coverage is significantly over-played - he's not incredible but there's almost no LBs who arent victimised in man-coverage at some point
Yeah I see what you're saying, I was joking about the bias thing cuz that's pretty absurd lol. I'm sure they weigh coverage more though since passing is such a huge part of the game now. His pff rating is still very good (I think he was 20ish) but if run defense was weighed more he'd be higher

no matter where Houston goes, it's going to be interesting to see where he lands and for what price. I'm sure we are doing our due diligence.
Not counting against the comp formula and being away from the FA frenzy... yeah decosta is probably blowing his phone up

The problem with PFF is that they have zero way to account for assignment switching, and that’s across all positions. OL, and anyone in coverage, is not penalized for failed assignment pickups, but the ones closest to the negative play are. So if we have a cover 2 man concept, and Mosley gets burned 20 yards deep down the seam by a TE and you got one safety picking up a well covered fade and the other is freelancing and undercutting a slant, Mosley gets penalized and neither safety does.

I can’t remember where I read this but it makes a ton of sense and is why pff is good in some ways but extremely narrow sighted in others

I wouldn't expect any major signings from us until after the first few big names have been signed just because of how much cap space a lot of teams have. Really hoping we go after Justin Houston and tashaun Gipson since they were cut and won't count against the comp calculations. We need to keep the two thirds we're getting from Mosely and Z if we don't re-sign either

Z won’t get us a third, take that to the bank.

Is he still any good?

#Buccaneers LB Kwon Alexander texted a group of his Tampa teammates a short while ago telling them he's going to miss them, source says. We'll see where he winds up but he's obviously not expecting it to be Tampa. Deal expected to be in the $12m/$13m per year range.

and this is why CJ isnt signed yet - and why he may well not be coming back - if Alexander is expecting to get 12-13 then no wonder CJ thinks he can get 15-17...

would be a big fan of this - he's always been a suggs-type player - has some availability concerns but is still a really good pass rusher and an elite run defender on the edge in a 3-4 - if we dont resign sizzle (or maybe even if we do), houston would be an incredible signing to replace him with

i think its fair to say he was a pretty sexy name a few years ago lol when he nearly broke the all-time season sack record
