If a rb that can also catch is not a priority, we are doomed.for guys who are predominantly great runners of the football in various ways - but people who can tote the rock between the tackles
tevin coleman is not a great runner of the football - his value comes from getting on the edge and as a receiver which our execs have very explicitly said is not a priority in a running back for our team this year but we would happily bring in a player with good receiving skills but only as a complement to their abilities as a runner
hence why i think coleman is unlikely to be high on a list of free agent targets for us
Don't worry, we'll draft great receiver or two, like we always do.If a rb that can also catch is not a priority, we are doomed.
The first mistake by Eric was not tagging CJ. It would have bought us another year to get a deal done but for some reason we are content with letting him test the market.
I'll be the first to say it....
WE'VE LOST THE OFFSEASON
OUR SEASON IS OVER
Come on now.Jordan Hicks would be fine as a replacement at probably half the cost.
He's 6'2 and one of the better coverage ILBs around. In all seasons he's been ranked higher than CJ grades wise ( PFF) he doesn't have the same ''stats'' as mosely but that's because he's been in different D's that have different responsibilites.
I'm sure they have no internal bias against Mosely. He gets graded just as harshly as the other ILBs. He was never a great coverage ILB, but he is a great run defender.PFF has never liked Mosley in any of his seasons and its patently ridiculous the way they grade him

my point is the way they grade linebackers is weird - they weight certain things weirdly and it means that CJ is perennially undergraded - im not saying they're biased against mosley just that their grading system is incredibly flawed when dealing with linebackers
and him being bad in coverage is significantly over-played - he's not incredible but there's almost no LBs who arent victimised in man-coverage at some point
That is very different discussion than saying Jordan Hicks gives you the same for half the price.I'll put it to you this way. Bobby Wagner and Luke Kuechly scream awesome when i watch them without needing to go on PFF
and on PFF they are constantly top 3 every year
CJ does not and he has barely cracked the top 10 in PFF in all his years ( he's basically above average) and he wants to be paid like HE IS the Luke Kuechly of 2019.
Nope

He might give you a little more in coverage and not even close to what CJ means in run D and, most importantly, as a play caller.he'll give you more in coverage.
Wouldnt shock me if we rolled out with PO and KY and see how they roll. Maybe we should just build our O for this year, ignore the D and go full on with D next year.
So the fact that he's teared and broke everything in his body doesn't count in the formula? He's 6'2 and one of the better coverage ILBs around. Trey Flowers would be nice. Do you know what injury he is currently dealing with? I think I read he underwent surgery.Short term deal is no harm. I'd rather we focused our FA on Trey Flowers and one of the safties and an O linesman and then look at the draft for ILB WR or RB.
