Free Agency 2019

This year ain't going to be a good year

but next year is a different equation altogether.

We'll have cap galore and more picks.
I’m expecting the same. I really hope Eric can crush his first draft. If he goes out and lands a stud on the OL and a solid starting outside receiver, man that will make next offseason so exciting. Cap and picks, we can go chasing a big name pass rusher and I expect a top 20 pick as well and be able to get another stud in next years draft. If we don’t crush this draft though I won’t be feeling very excited about 2020 though

Not gonna lie, I'm pretty worried about our WR situation unless Eric has a plan in place. I'm praying we make a Boldin type of trade and still draft a WR in the 1st. We need to surround Lamar with TOO much talent.
How about a pass rusher? I am just as concerned about that!

I'll be thrilled if we have a winning season this year. I agree next year is going to be beastly if managed correctly. I know Eric has a plan but it just needs to fall in place.

correct me if i'm wrong but with jimmy being a FA and yanda (possible retirement),release carr and B.will

won't we have the most cap space in the league next season?

Yes that might be possible, but as of now we only have 32 players under contract (excluding this season's rookies). Judon, Tucker, Pierce, Peanut, Snead are all FA's and Stanley's also a candidate to get an early extension. Flacco's dead money is also off the books.

Yep, this. The number looks "shiny" right now, but in all reality, it'll likely be nowhere near the highest in the league come this time next year. But, that doesn't mean we won't be in a good position. We're still going to have a significant amount of available cap and will be in the best shape cap wise that we've been in as long as I can remember at least.

So according to rapsheet apparently Justin Houston was looking for 10m per year and none of the teams in the mix were really willing to go that high and then the colts swoop in later with a first up offer of 12m per year seemingly out of the blue

Just interesting that all the other teams involved didn’t want to pay him even 10 a year

I absolutely would have paid him 10m and do not know why anyone wouldn't. I had him worth around that even not factoring in the free agency inflation

I'm pretty sure we'll crack the top 3 after we release carr etc

The colts are in a very good place right now...

One thing i trust about eric more than ozzie is contracts and what he's willing to pay. Ie paying brandon williams like he's aaron donald- NEVER AGAIN

I'm definitely looking forward to our team not having as many bad contracts. Let's just hope that Eric can draft as well as Ozzie has recently because Ozzie did pretty well in the last couple of drafts.

eric seems to be an analytics guy. Maybe he's into PFF more.

We should also factor in rollover cap too. Which is how some of these teams have crazy amounts.

I don't think this season is going to be a good one. There's too many variables against that. Young QB, new OC, the league knows how to play that new QB now, and that new QB is going to have to get adjusted to a game where his safety nets are taken away from him(you can thank Hurst and Skura for forcing us to run a fucking gimmick). Too many needs this year to fill out to be remotely competitive. We won't be top ten levels of bad, but I don't think it's a playoff team, which is fine. The team is considerably younger than it was a couple of weeks ago, and that's a good thing in my eyes. It's about damn time we let the young guys play.

But this year we have next to no draft capital and so many needs to fufil. I don't see the point in attacking certain needs over others. I'd rather us focus on what the strengths of the draft are, and let's face it, offensive skill position players(other than TE which we don't need) and corners are not that. Edge defenders, interior pass rushers, and offensive linemen are the strongest positional unit in this draft class by far. If Eric is truly dedicated to doing things more from an analytics standpoint, that's what we will focus on.

Three teams have inquired about Josh Rosen. Cardinals have been offered a second round pick by the Chargers but are holding out for a first.

The three teams are the Giants, Chargers and Patriots. Watch BB trade Pick 32 and after Brady retires, win multiple Super Bowls with Rosen.

Rosen will never win anything.
Also, Brady will never retire.

it's just so bald-faced - the cardinals today literally posted yet another affirmation by kliff kingsbury that josh rosen is their guy...

im fine with gms and coaches using coachspeak or not telling the whole truth or omitting information or being vague/ambiguous but im not fine with actual lies - it's why the giants OBJ trade was so crazy because the giants literally like a month earlier had come out and said he's not going to be traded

i get it that misinformation etc. is useful but straight up lying is also a dick move and likely means you're less likely to be believed the next time - also puts a shit ton of bad will into the heads of the people you misinformed... means the media's against you, doesnt believe you/second guesses everything you say, you dont get the benefit of the doubt etc.

really rubs me the wrong way and i think it does the nfl media too
