dk to pete carroll on the phone when he was drafted, sobbing: what took yall so long maaaaaan??

when he met pete he was shirtless, idk if they asked him to do it for shits and giggles or if he just doesnt wear shirts? idk, but after he walked in shirtless, pete carroll took his shirt off too lmfao.

idc what nobody says i fucks with pete carroll, hes one of 3 true players coaches, him, harbaugh, and reid.

cant really say that, hes a small school guy with maybe the best looking skill set in the entire class, so the value could vary widely, 2 years ago corey davis couldve been anywhere from top 10 to early 2nd round, thats what happens with smaller school guys and media grades. for me, its safe to say that if the steelers valued him enough to take him early in the third, then he was likely going in the third regardless as thats where his value lied for pro teams.

and for me, im one to say to hell with the "consensus" value. diontae johnson had round 1 film, and small school status destroying his stock. if his skill set is good enough for round 3 then idk why his value wouldnt be there as well
That’s the job of the GM. You don’t just draft players because you like them, you need to assess value. According to your logic Clelin Ferrell was a good pick for the Raiders. Why not trade down acquire more resources and take him? Steelers also valued Terrell Edmunds as a first round pick last year lmao. Imo they took Diontae with the pick they got for Antonio just to prove a point. Don’t blame them for it he’s a good player but he was overdrafted.

diontae johnson had first round film, with small school status so he fell to the third. clelin ferrells film showed way less than a 4th overall talent, he was a 20-30 talent at best, and terrell edmunds film definitely didnt show anything close to a first rounder, i couldve understood a team needing a robber safety taking him late second, but he was a late 3rd-4th on film. those are classic reaches on guys that straight up didnt show on film what they were drafted at. diontae johnson couldve went anywhere between top 20 to the end of the third and most people who have watched him wouldnt have batted an eye at it.

clelin ferrell though, hes a safe prospect, i sure as shit wouldnt have taken him there, but hes gonna be a good player, he doesnt have a 4th overall ceiling, but he should be a 3 down starter in a 4-3 and be a solid player for years to come. i understand them not wanting to take josh allen, i think they wanted quinnen and panicked when the jets took him because everyone expected the jets to go with allen. if they didnt want allen though(totally dont blame them) i dont see why they chose ferrell over the likes of brian burns...

Again the VALUE part is what I’m talking about not the SKILLSET.

darnell savage is a monster, your secondary is entirely revamped in 2 years, packers have been drafting REALLY smart overall, but i dont like rashan gary not one bit... but jaire alexander, josh jackson, darnell savage, the smith bros, you guys are looking good on defense
My Dad who is also a huge Packers fan isn't happy with their draft so far. He says they need to go after O lineman.

and what im saying is that skillset and talent should match the value. in the case of diontae johnson, it did. in the cases of ferrell and edmunds, it didnt.

the only players on the board that wouldve been better picks for the steelers there would be CGJ and amani oruwariye, and thats because they fill huge holes and the former is a very safe and versatile player.

packers could use some OL help, rodgers is probably sitting back pouting right now. im surprised they passed on dk so many times too. i guess with rodgers making all this money and him getting the nod over mccarthy, theyre trusting him to carry the team and they wont allow the defense to be their excuse for losses. with a qb of rodgers caliber i cant blame them, you signed that guy to basically be your offense and carry one side of the ball.

I would love for us to draft deionte Thompson. We don’t have any real FS behind Thomas who’s coming off injury. They’re both from the same city and are close, so I’m sure Thompson would absorb everything earl teaches

wouldnt mind that either, but i personally would take CGJ, julian love, or oruwariye before him. first 2 are safer imo, and i value drafting corners over safeties because you have 1-2 safeties on the field, but need minimum 3 corners to be a quality secondary

one thing I like about Boykin is that Notre Dame had absolutely zero qualms about throwing the ball up for him to win downfield. I mean, Zero. if he's covered with a blanket coverage they trusted him and threw it all the time.

I'm seeing Endgame today, so I'll miss the draft and the reactions. Bring some good guys back to Baltimore.
