kevin white was a huge miss for me
before drafting him, i didnt like perriman, and had kevin white and perriman as near clones. white was another straight line burner with poor change of direction on film and struggled to use his size, i actually thought perriman was better at the contested catch than white, because perriman would be the aggressor a bit more, while white was what i like to call, a fadeaway catcher. he would make some nice looking catches by facing the ball and catching it like a fadeaway shot in basketball, he would turn and spring backwards with a step of separation and make a catch that truthfully couldve/shouldve been caught over the shoulder. a lot of people mix these up with "attacking" the ball or contested catches. josh doctson was another one who did this and got a lot of hype as a contested catch guy, but didnt pan out because in reality he was either laying out for overthrown balls(tbf he did this very well and its not a bad trait at all) or fadeaway catching.

contested catch, thats dez bryant, larry fitzgerald, alshon jeffrey, anquan boldin, deandre hopkins, megatron, julio, these guys arent laying out for balls that the qb put too much steam on, they come back to the ball and outman the db in the air whos playing it from a good position. yet guys like kevin white and josh doctson always generate hype and never live up to it, because their catches look nice but really theyre just extending dramatically. JJ arcega whiteside is a guy that im pounding the table on saying hes gonna pan out, because he is THE aggressor and dbs just cant stop him from catching it.

tbf to josh doctson he's awful at most of the skills a receiver needs in the nfl but he's become one of the most reliable jump-ball/contested catch receivers around lol - it's like that's the one college skill he had that actually translated to the nfl - it's just a shame he cant really do anything else lol

Speaking of injuries, I liked the Kindle pick.

I just googled him and the irony that his dad's name is Johnny Walker. This shit writes itself.

Kevin white gets a big asterisk with his injuries. Who knows, he could’ve been a really good player.

ive learnt a lot since then in terms of evaluating talent and honestly it was just a complete misevaluation by me at the time - in hindsight i wouldnt have touched him with a ten foot pole - he was a size-speed project who flew up draft boards for the physical attributes and i think i mostly had him that high because i wanted to be contrarian about amari cooper

Lol this thread is supposed to be about picks you got wrong
but I'm always right. I'll have to check back another time. This is the first time I've been on the site since last Thursday. My mom passed away on Friday (1:30am).

Sorry for your loss, man. Mine passed away about 3 years ago so I know what you're going through.

Please accept my condolences. It is hard to lose one's mother and I know how it feels personally.

All I want to know is if your list of 'i told ya so' prospects that actually became NFL stars is bigger than this list? Keep us all posted!

yeah i thought mike evans was a guaranteed bust myself. hes like the only receiver of his type that seems to have succeeded, he lacks a whole lot of what a NFL receiver needs but he is so physically dominant like on another level beyond any other big bodied guy that he can win with just that.

I remember @flynismo was pounding the table for Mike Evans, but I think even he was surprised he went so early.
