The Washington Nationals have inked Steven Strasburg to a record setting 7 yr 245m deal. This probably means Anthony Rendon is going and as much as I wanted Stras, I'd rather have Rendon.

Meanwhile, the Orioles have claimed Marcos Diplan from the Tigers

As long as Gerrit Cole doesn't sign with the Yankees, I'm cool with whatever happens in the MLB offseason. On that note, come take a discount Cole and play for your old friend Mike Elias here in Baltimore.

We all knew it was going to happen. Gerrit Cole signs a 9 year $324M contract with the Yankees.

MLB is in DIRE NEED of a true Salary Cap similar to the NFL. Small markets won't ever be able to compete financially with big markets.

9 years? lmao thats a mistake, he could get old on the field in 3
The Nationals never exceed the tax threshold and won't even if they sign Rendon, which is unlikely. I agree that there should be an actual salary cap and not a tax threshold.

The Cole contract is way too long, but he won't be old on the field in 3 years.

Lightning did not strike twice. The Los Angeles Angels signed Anthony Rendon for 7 yrs 245m.

With the ongoing investigation with the Astros cheating and having their own spygate scandal, should we be concerned when it comes to Mike Elias and whether he was involved or not?

Looks like the Orioles signed their first free agent, RHP Kohl Stewart. I may have to refer back to this post tomorrow to remember his name....lol. Looks like another rough season coming.

It isn't crazy, cheating will always be part of sports. But it is very sad and pathetic. Will the punishment be enough to deter future cheating? That is the question. Unfortunately I think I know the answer.
I'm sure it was Bill Belichick's fault. Does't matter what it is, it's always his fault.
