i think he and the the 2 TEs (Eli Wolf and Jacob Breeland - if he passes his physical) as well as Charles Scarf who was already on the roster are going to be fighting for 1 spot on the roster - and they've all got a pretty fair shot
if it happens i think the price will have to have come down far enough for us not to need to get rid of judon - (might require some restructures) and would likely be a 1 year deal basically where he gets to play for a contender where he's guaranteed tons of snaps with great surrounding talent and gets to drive up his price for next year
but his price will have to have come down a fair amount - the ravens likely have to offer either a load of incentives to get the deal up or offer a lower deal but fully guaranteed even for injury so that he at least has some security
i still think its unlikely - how much extra money is he going to turn down from elsewhere to play for us if he would... seems unlikely that the browns couldnt blow our offer out of the water
although (thinking out loud now) tbf if he's looking for playing time then maybe that's why he's not going to the browns with Garrett and Vernon already there (maybe he also doesnt think of them as a contender idk) - eagles and titans could still outbid us though - titans honestly make a lot of sense unless he's looking at beasley's contract and thinking that stops him from getting playing time (which he shouldnt because beasley's not worth the 10m he got) - which leaves the eagles who should also be able to outbid us, have at least one hole at EDGE and not much competition... so the only reason he wouldnt go there is if he doesnt think they'll be a contender
i just cant see us ever being able to outbid any of these teams and unless he really wants to play here i dont see him ever coming here vs the eagles or titans because they can offer more money - and if money is important to him i dont see how he doesnt end up at the browns (unless they're low-balling him and not moving) because they've got the most cap space left in the league
i think that's it - if we're getting clowney it will not be at judon's expense

But I'd still rather have Clowney over Judon. I just hope Clowney signs somewhere soon so I can move on with my life. Also, I just remembered we re-signed McPhee. Obviously not a long-term answer, but he can hold it down in a full-time role on the other side unless Ferg dramatically improves while Clowney holds it down at LOLB. I wish we'd just trade Judon for capital already and spend that money on a true game-wrecker.

He would need to sign a deal that has a 2020 cap hit of like $8-9M or less, which won't be happening.

I honestly do not see a swap for Judon/Clowney. It honestly doesn't make much sense to me unless you commit to Clowney over Judon but then takes money away from the other core players the Ravens would like to keep. Clowney seems to love Seattle so you would have to overpay to get him out of there. Meanwhile Judon loves it here so maybe you might be able to keep him at a discount.

I wouldn't go that for. I think we would need to get both of them or stick with Judon.
I can see us extending him near the end of the year if not sooner.

Extending Judon would certainly make things easier, but I'm not extending him for a crazy amount of money per year. You also have to account for the McPhee re-signing, as I think it essentially makes him the starting OLB on the other side, so we wouldn't need Judon AND Clowney. Regardless, EDC has shown how aggressive he can be, through trades and inquiries, so I think he can cook up some magic IF we truly are interested in Clowney. Adam Schefter follows the guy that broke the news, so that's interesting.
i honestly think that this team is weaker with clowney vs judon with the way the front 7 has now been constructed - if we got clowney it would have to be in addition to judon somehow not replacing him
McPhee will start until he gets hurt in game 7.
