Next Up: vs Steelers

Have you all seen the recent interview with Mark Andrews? I think he said some interesting stuff. I get that he like everyone else is trained to give coach speak answers, but he seemed to acknowledge that the offense has not reached its potential. He very optimistically said they've had some good practices and have been getting better and he thinks they're very close to turning a corner. He said the we're close thing multiple times. I hope he's right. I think I'm inclined to believe him. It's funny that we of course our offense's first test out of the bye is Pitts D. We shall see. My opinion on this game has changed. I've said for about 10 days I don't see us winning. I see a JTuck clutch fg for the win. 21-20 Ravens. My change in tune is a function of remembering how good we are out of the bye, adding Yannick, and the honesty of Mandrews.

Lamar has said the same thing as well multiple times about almost being there. They acknowledge they're not playing well and wonder if it's just a timing thing that can be corrected in season. I don't know if it's just player speak or they really mean it but we'll see.

Anyway, the Steelers aren't the team to try and correct offensive issues against.

odd sidenote: to make room for dez bryant we cut marcus gilchrist from the PS, who's played the last 2 games and played significant snaps on defence in his call-ups from the practice squad

with anthony averett's injury we're now super light on DBs for a team that plays tons of dime - i dont even know who the 6th DB would be in our dime package right now with gilchrist having been cut... levine? dorsey?

all i know is richards doesnt really count in the equation and levine doesnt play that deep safety role (when he's in it's as a dimebacker type) nor corner

which leaves us with only the starting 5 DBs and khalil dorsey lol

we've protected Geno Stone this week on the practice squad and i wonder if he's in line to finally become active and contribute to the team
the only other real option would be if there's someone lined up to join the team (but even then they likely wouldn't be ready to play by sunday so keeping gilrchrist would have made a ton of sense - at least to make use of his final free call-up)

im a bit flummoxed by that whole situation but i guess we'll see

Seems really odd as you mentioned.

Regarding the flex options, just remember folks, the SNF game for this past week was supposed to be Buccaneers/Raiders. It was instead Seahawks/Cardinals.

different roles - romo's an awesome colour guy and harlan's an excellent play-by-play

if they had good chemistry you've got a dream team right there
nantz and romo have great chemistry though so its not so bad

i wish harlan had someone other than gannon to riff with though
Exactly. I love the Nantz/Romo duo anyways. They just vibe together and when you hear those two, you know that this is THE CBS primetime game.

watching the eagles tape back on offence is horrifying at times - im looking at the execution which is bad but i look at some of our plays and pause them immediately post-snap and then know the play is instantly dead - so many of our route combinations are an absolute shambles of vanilla rubbish and our entire passing game offence right now seems to be based on lamar making magic after the initial play has broken down which is bizarre to me because lamar's at his best when on schedule and in rhythm

it's like they're trying to turn lamar into deshaun watson or patrick mahomes and i dont know why

if this stuff isnt improved against the steelers - who while they have an amazing front 7 have been vulnerable on the back end then i may well be conducting the 'fire somebody' train by monday

At the rate it’s been going, someone definitely needs firing if it doesn’t change. Roman and culley are looking really bad right now

Culley especially - we thought he was this wiz WR coach and that he would help as the passing game coordinator to take some of that from Roman and be creative with it given his previous stops as a WR coach but the whole thing's been fairly stale

that being said the young WRs we've drafted since he arrived have all come on well apart from Boykin so far

man i really like patrick queen a lot and there was no way we were paying CJ what he got from the Jets (and nor should we have) but i really miss him here lol

dude was nothing short of exemplary while he was here and would quietly just do things like this lol

mosley was a dog, and a smart one at that, dude understood the game at a different level it seemed like. if he had a better genetic makeup he wouldve been one of the greats of this era, he had to put on weight to stay healthy and he lost a lot of his burst with it and he looked to have lost a lot of his range over the years of extra weight too, and even with the added weight hes still been injury prone. despite all this he will still be one of the better LBs in the league when he returns, just didnt have a chance to take that next jump.
