Ravens Ring of Honor
1. Why does he deserve to make what he makes? Well, that should be up to his employer. Since his employer is the one paying him the millions (which this guy isn't making millions, anyway), and the general public is paying him nothing, the burden of determining "worth" should fall on the people responsible for paying him.but who says it's more than reasonable? why does a guy who's shown a pattern of poor behaviour deserve to make millions of dollars?
the fact of the matter is that being racist is frankly just unacceptable, as it should be - i dont get why it's seen as disproportionate for people to want him not hired...
it's not about him forever being ostracised but he's done nothing in the period between being outed as a racist and getting hired in a new job that would suggest he's made any sort of personal growth that would indicate he's going to be different in his new job...
and it should be on him to prove that he's changed and that naturally would take some time...
2. I'm not questioning whether racism is acceptable. I do kind of question why being a racist means people will invest their free time to make sure a single racist doesn't have employment, but I guess its their free time and they can do what they want with it.
3. My point is... period of time doesn't matter. There is no period of time. Its purely arbitrary. In many, many, many cases, the period of time is either indefinite, or perpetual, and there's no level of contrition that's going to reduce that period of time.
In today's climate, you would be better off being running a dog-fighting ring, while murdering dogs, than you would being a racist. Domestic violence of almost any kind is slowly becoming more "tolerable" than being a racist. Multiple DUI's is better than being a racist. All three of those segments would get 2nd and even 3rd chances much faster than a racist would in this climate.
There's actually very few things on planet Earth that would be labeled as being worse than being a racist right now. That's the level of "culture" we are at.
