what about duvernay, in any way, has suggested he has the ability to light it up at this point in his career - if he can develop then great but he's shown absolutely nothing that would suggest he can win vs man coverage
oh nothing at all Ii would never bet a single dollar in confidence in him ever being anything. more of a joke dream hypothetical.

the mistake is to assume that just because it's deep, means that you can find starters ready to go later necessarily - the last 2 heralded "deep" drafts we've waited until late day 2 at the earliest to get 1 and missed out on early contributors - we got talented guys later than they'd go in other drafts but missed out on the top guys because we waited... duvernay in 2020 (and proche) and campanaro in 2014

the prime round for drafting WRs is the 2nd round - that's where typically in recent years value has met talent for lots of players

i see your logic, but it hasn't worked out for the ravens in the recent past waiting on guys

teams reach on WRs so waiting for them to fall likely means you're going to miss out on many of the super talented ones
This issue is exactly why this isn’t a 27th overall kind of draft and we gotta hope like hell that there’s a great player at a position we don’t need/want that would bait a nice trade down, so we can avoid this issue altogether and have that 1 extra pick you can use for the top WR available early on

I think we have a move up our sleeves, I can’t look at those restructures and believe that we aren’t doing something worthwhile with it, it might just be Watkins and Dunlap, maybe Ingram, Houston, hell maybe we have a trade worked out with a team to move brown for a WR+picks or edge+picks. It just seems unlikely to me that we restructured these guys for shiggles

They were probably done days ago. According to all of the Twitter guys, the NFLPA is notoriously slow at updating contract changes like these. I wouldn’t expect anything major out of this. This just seems like standard operating procedure.

It doesn’t seem like standard operating procedure though lol, even if it has taken a while it’s a lot of cap space to just randomly clear up from guys who had no incentive to restructure

Please, let us trade with the Vikings for Thielen. I want no part of Watkins or any of the other remaining FA WRs out there.

Watkins has gotten a lot of unnecessary hate around here, he’s much better than these boards are making him out to be lol, but yeah thielen would be dope

Just because you didn’t agree with the consensus doesn’t mean it was wrong lol.

Sammy was the reason you couldn’t key in on kelce and hill, because he literally took over games time and time again. Kelce and hill made that offense great, Sammy Watkins put it over the top and made it unstoppable by being a third option that really made defenses pay for not respecting his ability.

no he’s not elite, but he’s a quality NFL WR2 and he will see as much single coverage in Baltimore as he saw in KC and will have more space to run in the secondary.
Cant convince me this guy is a good #2. Ive watched games were hill and kelce are doubled while watkins couldnt get open in single cvg.. he gonna have to prove to me that he can ball.

imo, he's more a 2b or a 3, but would help us tremendously and he has been effective, with his best year coming in 2015 with Roman. We would still need to draft a WR in either the 1st or 2nd round.

Thank you for saying what was on my mind lol. You know we as fans have become so desperate that we can’t let the likes of Sammy Watkins leave without a contract

I don’t think it’s anything at all against Watkins.. he’d be a fine #3/low end #2 in my opinion. I just don’t don’t think him and Hollywood are enough for Lamar to grow as the passer we all want him too

This is pretty awesome of them - Campbell especially. He had no incentive to do that, really.
Well, depends. If we absolutely needed the cap space, he was theoretically a cut candidate that would have created $5M in space for us. That would have been unlikely, but possible.

Plus, he was due $10M this year. There is no scenario possible where he would have gotten $10M on the open market, at this stage, as a 35 year old player.

He probably could have played hard ball, but I think he realizes this may be the last time he plays for anyway.

Well plus whoever we add in the draft, which we will.

Id love the pickup long as we drafr anther. He can catch very well, gets open in space and he gets yac but im not sold cause ive seen him get locked up in man cvg alot just like our current wrs..

I'd also add that Watkins is usually good to miss a few, or several more, games per season due to injuries. Good player when healthy, but not always reliable.
