Well Flacco will likely be a backup like that of another SB one hit wonder, Nick Foles

I also would put Stanley at RT because he’s head and shoulders a superior player, but he’s never taken a snap at RT at any level that we can see on film
I guess in a hypothetical world that's fine. I'm just not doing it because I'm just assuming he'd be good instead of actually seeing him play well there.

Yeah we didn't think nothing of Skura being our Center because mostly he had Yanda next to him and our run game was amazing so it didn't really matter. Yanda retired and that really revealed we needed an upgrade under Center, but the whole interior honestly. Hopefully Bozeman is ready for that task.
Another thing I neglected in reading the hypothetical is game situation. Having a great run blocker means nothing, because you're down 4 with 2 minutes to go.

Basically you need the 5 best pass blockers at those positions you can find. May or may not change anything, since most of the guys we're talking about were excellent at both, but I think it diminishes the value for somebody like KO a little bit. Also I thought Birk was a little better in pass pro than Jensen.

Justin Houston is only 32. That means he's nearing the ends of his career sure, but he's not 36. I can understand not wanting to do a lot of the off-season stuff, but if you're joining a new team, wouldn't you want to be there for training camp? I can't imagine he's going to get a big or long term deal and I can't see how not going to training camp will help him in a pursuit of another contract.

Veterans typically hate training camp. Nobody is really adding players to their rosters at this stature, so what's the difference in the market if he signs today vs 6 weeks from now?
If anything, his market gets a little bit better as training camp/preseason injuries occur, and as teams widdle down their rosters and remind themselves of their weakest position groups.

I'm not saying its impossible guys like him sign this week, but if I'm them, I'm just waiting longer. I'd be targeting probably mid-to-late August. Will give them a good couple weeks to prepare for the season and learn the playbook, without having to go through the rigor of multi-day practices and camp issues.

exactly - if someone gives him a major deal in march he's not turning it down to just to miss training camp
but if someone's gonna offer him the same deal in august as they would in april then why not wait?

Yea, big miss by the Ravens. Not so much because of Ingram's skills(good but not great, still better than what we currently have)but more so just how lacking we are in the pass rush department. Going to be a long frustrating season for the fans and CBs. Think 2016 when we were in the bottom 5 in sacks per game.

So let me ask, should we just add people at the position just for the hell of it just because we need a solid pass rusher? Because we already have depth pieces, a mix of youth and veteran

This is actually a horrendous take on it because we have a much different DC lmao

To be in shape. To get to know your teammates. To learn the playbook. To get settled in your house. To compete for your spot in the rotation. I can think of tons of reasons to want to be with your team during camp.

I can think of exactly 2 reasons why you wouldn't. One, risk of injury. Two as you said, if you can get laid the same and not have to do it than you can get away without it. Only consequence of that are the ones I listed above.

Now I know the retort is going to be he is a veteran, he can come in during the late preseason and be just fine. That very well may be true. But my whole point here is not why hasn't he signed, it's I personally knowing my own personality cannot understand why you wouldn't want to be at training camp aa a professional athlete.
