The Lamar, The Defense and The Comeback

Lamar had a graphics segment where he wore a cape and the commentators were referring to him as Superman.

that’s not the first time he’s been called Superman this year. Matter of fact, he’s been referred to as Superman by A LOT of analysts and commentators, and it started this year. Lamar is developing a reputation of the Superman of the league.
Didn't they call him Superman after the Cleveland game last year?

ill be the first to put my hands up and say i was completely wrong about devonta - it's clear murray's gonna get the majority of the work inside and i think bell can add something as a rusher too but we've seen devonta be that guy today - looked comfortable in pass pro and timed his leaking out well to be that check down underneath outlet

I put it in the GameDay thread, yes we totally lack an explosive back, but it's not really 100% any of the backs faults we're not running well. It's the way defenses are playing us principally, the injuries to our line, and then the lack of experience and chemistry. I don't see the running game getting better this year though. How can it? Stanley coming back isn't going to make a huge difference. Will help pass blocking, but idk about run blocking. Then nothing else will change except maybe adding in Tyree but who knows. Maybe Boyle? I think we're gonna have to be the Chiefs this year.

PFF but this just makes the performance even more incredible:

Offensive Line
Baltimore’s offensive line was not at its best Monday, struggling to create open running lanes while allowing consistent pressure in pass protection. The unit’s performance in the run game stunted the Ravens offense, as Baltimore's rushers finished with an average of -0.3 yards before contact.

The group was only slightly better in pass protection, allowing 17 total pressures and 12 quarterback hits but only two sacks thanks in large part to Jackson’s elusiveness.

i must say i have a feeling those pass blocking numbers are more a symptom of lamar holding the ball to make plays downfield than anything else but not sure

none of our OL are particularly mauling run blockers - Tyre and Boyle for sure might make a difference there but idk that we're going to be able to get back our numbers advantage in the running game unless teams start dropping into coverage more

With Cleveland out, I'm not sure we can afford to put Tyree in at Guard. When is Boyle coming back? Teams are going to have to start dropping more if they don't want to get assaulted from the air. Getting Bateman in there is gonna be nasty

Also lol at ESPN commentators having a hard on for criticising lamar's passing completely unnecessarily

it's like they couldnt get over the 1 misread and then miss on 2 consecutive plays to hollywood - they kept talking about how he'd missed a few throws and made a few misreads and were still talking that way when lamar was like 26/30 or something like that lol

i remember literally going to the box score to double check i wasnt going crazy because i couldnt remember him missing - and then they were talking about his inaccuracy and then he missed a pass and finally they acknowledge that he'd just hit 12 straight completions or something lol

utterly ridiculous

I remember hearing them talk about it, and I didn't think Lamar had played that badly in the 1st half. I was pretty surprised when they showed his numbers.

why would cleveland affect the decision about tyre?

Tyree is the only guy not named Andre Smith who can possibly play T and also G obviously. If we throw him to play G, and he gets hurt, our only option is Andre Smith. If we keep him on the bench, and anyone not named Bozeman goes down, Tyree can go in in a pinch.

i understand keeping him back as tackle depth

was just wondering why that had anything to do with cleveland... that's all lol

Oh sorry I was confusing. It's the above reasoning and I was also just simultaneously saying we can't afford to not have depth ready just in general with even more guys going down (Cleveland).
