We've also learnt what i suspected last week... This running game is not fixed. Last week against the Vikings was an aberration based on the defence missing Michael Pierce and keeping corners deep. The only other game we've been able to run in was against the Chargers who literally invite everyone to run on them.

What's super frustrating though is that the Dolphins pass defence is not good - they played really well tonight but if we'd got in rhythm on early downs they wouldnt even have had the chance to tee off on 3rd and longs with those 6 and 7 man blitzes all night

even on bad drives we were frequently getting a 1st down off 1st down off play-action but then went back to a running game that was actively self-sabotaging the offence

I think you and I agree on Ty’Son but it’s hard to believe that he’s active and they’re watching this and he’s not getting at least a couple of carries to see if he can spark something. Still think Freeman offers at least something but he can’t be your primary ball carrier at this stage.

im still not sure what happened on that coverage - just seemed like some guys were playing man some playing zone

i have a sneaky suspicion it was westry who got it wrong and didnt travel with the motion
I also believe that someone else was meant to travel with the motion. On first glance, I also thought Averett was meant to cover his respective deep third earlier since Stone drifted into his flat, indicating a Cover 3; so Clark had to make two massive tackles with nobody else behind him. Not the most envious spot when you're single-high.

Offense was fucking awful. OL isn't getting any better so it is what it is at this point. Tucker misses usually indicate the direction a game will go. The constant mistakes on def... I just don't understand. Way too much communication still going on too close to the whistle and guys look confused.

it's all communication-based because the busts are happening on really simple stuff

Also time to start looking for a new punter after this year. Love Koch but it’s time. He’s had a few shanks throughout the season but tonight was not good at all from him compared to what we’re used to. If it was one game id give it a pass but it’s been a problem all year.

Roman called a horrible game but the OL protection and communication was even worse. OL looked confused every play coupled with poor snaps. Lamar was off but clearly frustrated with the amount of issues he had to deal with.
Lack of RBs with burst is a big problem, some yards left on the field that we could have gotten if someone quicker was carrying the Football.
Watkins was an abomination today. Pulled up on his route which caused him to miss out on an easy TD, Fumbled the football which led to 6 for and just overall was nowhere to be found. He seriously pissed me off today.
Offense was in good field position and couldn't adjust to the zero blitz--they'll be seeing more of that this season, especially without the run game we're used to having.

Yeah the defense played well but they continue to allow big plays. Plays of 64, 52, and 35 were allowed today. No one picked up Wilson when he motioned left, wtf was that? Defense ranked 31st against the pass for a reason.....
It's pretty obvious that this defense badly lacks playmakers. No one can get their hands on the ball, plenty of guys had good leverage and yet were too concerned with batting the ball down instead of making a play. We have to heavily consider drafting a safety round 1 or signing one.

Justin Houston was a monster this game, Oweh two, Edges were a bright spot today.

yeah i dont think ive seen lamar as demonstrably frustrated as often as he was tonight in any previous game

I fucking hated the Watkins signing so much. Dude’s season has been full of drops, injuries, a TD off of slipping on a route and now a TD off of a fumble. It was such a desperation signing

The one positive I can pull out is that we got to see a great non-TD. Literally the only time I smiled all game watching big man run. Didn’t even care that it was against us by that point.

Argentina Raven

Practice Squad
bateman looks like a Wr1.
I think we will need more picks in the draft, we have an offensive line to replace, some cb, some fs, some defensive linemen, some lb, renew Lamar (each game is more expensive his contract).

Hard to say for sure but Stephens and Queen also got washed up in the middle if it was a pass off. Queen started motioning that way so not sure. Would agree that it was Westrycbut obviously hard to confirm.

im repeating the play over and over trying to figure it out - looks like averett and humphrey are both in man but i wonder if the motion meant we should have rolled coverage with stephens coming down

doesnt look or seem like westry's supposed to be travelling with the motion (at least no one on defence seems to notice that he's not travelling) so my guess is stephens is supposed to rotate down

but really not sure tbh

If we see anything close to this again I swear to god Roman needs to be right out the door with no hesitation. This is elementary shit to beat in the nfl, RUN A FUCKING QUICK SLANT! Seriously it’s that simple. Run. A fucking. Slant. And again. And again. And fucking again until they start dropping blitzers. Then run a slant elsewhere. Rinse and repeat for fucks sake. Greg Roman can be so brilliant with his blocking schemes but he is still such a fucking amateur in his passing concepts. If he sees this same approach at any point this season and he doesn’t shred tf out of it, or at least show an understanding of how to beat it, he’s gotta go, straight up.

this was the single worst coordinated game I’ve seen for the ravens.

yeah i dont get it - you've got bateman, watkins and duvernay who are all great on slants - and bateman and duvernay were both dangerous after the catch on slants in college... i think both had multiple huge plays off that route

you could even run double backside slants of RPOs... give lamar 2 options on the backside based on where the single high safety commits

i think the one slant we ran was the first 3rd down conversion we had all day on the catch to bateman...

the stuff that beat the ravens today was all high school football level stuff - it was basic man vs zone coverage busts on defence and it was basic cover-1 and cover-0 blitzing that screwed us on offence

freeman and bell left yards on the field through their lack of explosion - if you're dedicated to making the running game work at that point in this game - then it should have made sense to get Ty'son on the field... otherwise why is he here

Remember when Kurt Warner, a HOF QB called out Roman for his play calling then Steve Smith Sr, a future HOF WR did the same? Then Harbs dismissed it...... me too. He's too hard headed for his own good not realizing when it's time to move on from a OC.

we were talking about the second coverage bust

but on the first one yeah i think having looked at it again both stone and averett got it wrong - looked like cover 3 to me and averett let it go - averett played well tonight but that was a bad look that he busted the coverage and then didnt try to run back and get back in the play - stone ended up running it down

just dont think he's got the power in his leg anymore to be at the upper echelons of the position - there's still no one better in the game than koch with the changeups and the different punt techniques but that only counts for so much when your leg starts to decline

I think we will need more picks in the draft, we have an offensive line to replace, some cb, some fs, some defensive linemen, some lb, renew Lamar (each game is more expensive his contract).

we need offensive tackle help and we need major reinforcements all over the defence - and in particular we need to find some playmakers - the greatest equaliser for average or poor or flawed defences is the ability to turn the ball over and we havent been doing it

we're not opportunistic on defence and we need to add players who make those sorts of plays - averett's been ok but dropped an INT today but last year humphrey was able to force a ton of fumbles (and i dont think he's got one this year yet)

queen looks like he has a knack so far in his young career for getting the ball out (which is why you live with the mistakes he makes because the big plays he creates are worth those errors e.g. a potential turnover today, the 8 yard TFL against the vikings to kill that drive from the outset) but didnt recover the ball on the floor today
