It's definitely the team's weakest position.4 corners gone since the season ended lol - 4 corners who started for us in 2022 at various points

I'd say our linebacking core, both inside and outside, is weaker. It's definitely the team's weakest position.
This is true but Lamar missed 5 games and Hollywood is younger. Although Cooks is only 28 yrs old, so he's still pretty young. Not buying Hollywood and Cooks are the same. They literally had identical stat lines last year, except one guy played most of the season with Lamar, and the other had Davis Mills.
Cooks has SIX 1,000 yard seasons on his resume, and four 1,100 yard seasons. Hollywood has one.
Lets wait and see what Hollywood does in 2022 before we think they're the same.
Also, Cooks is getting ~$20M per year on his new deal, which is basically the same range we've been suggesting Hollywood would be at for some time now. I'd have trouble reconciling how Hollywood would cost like 20-25% more than him.
You're not wrong at all, but all I was pointing out waa the obvious fact you just said about the depth at CB.I'd say our linebacking core, both inside and outside, is weaker.
We lack Corner depth, not premier players. We have two high-end Corners that could matchup with the two best Corners on just about any team.
We just have nothing behind that.
We don't have high end players at edge, linebacker, or even on the DLine, at the moment.
Well I mean Dline is the thinnest group for me right now. I don't even know who our 3rd Dlineman would be. We have Pierce and Madubuike, but that's about it. I don't know that anybody expects Wolfe to be back or even play, Williams and Campbell are gone, and even some of our other reserves have signed elsewhere. You're not wrong at all, but all I was pointing out waa the obvious fact you just said about the depth at CB.
If you were stupid as GM you could not add to your LB and DL corps and field a bad defense. You literally have no choice but to address CB because you literally can't field a starting defense with only 2 corners.
No one is saying there was any intention to not add corners, but right now that is by far the thinnest group. I'm glad at least as you say the thinnest group is at least a talented one.
Yeah the defense is not rounded out at all.Well I mean Dline is the thinnest group for me right now. I don't even know who our 3rd Dlineman would be. I could make a similar case for linebacker too. Who's starting at ILB today? Do we have two? We have Oweh and Bowser on the outside, but Bowser also tore his Achilles like 3 months ago.
Safety is probably the only unit on the defense, today, that has depth. In the front 7, we're going to have several starters in September out there that probably aren't even on the roster at the moment.
I'm lobbying for Corner high in the draft like everybody else, and I think we'll land two in the draft. But if we somehow don't, I'd be perfectly fine with adding high end talent at other spots on the defense too. Part of the reason we've thought we've needed to be 4,5,6 deep at Corner (which practically no team is) is because we've been so futile at pass rush the last few years. The only way to get consistent pressure in the Wink era was to blitz for days. We find a way to get 2,3,4 quality pass rushers who can win situationally out there, and suddenly maybe you don't need to be 5 deep at Corner.
I'd say whether we extend Brown or not depends on how well our rookies, 2nd and 3rd year players end up playing this year. If we allocate more resources to receivers we have to make sacrifices elsewhere. If we feel confident we don't need vets then yes. Plus we also have to see what Stanley still can do.This is true but Lamar missed 5 games and Hollywood is younger. Although Cooks is only 28 yrs old, so he's still pretty young.
Hollywood still produced under Huntley, he just didn't have as many yards per game with him in the game.
I absolutely agree with this and if they feel they won't be extending Hollywood due to cost, I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft a WR high in the draft (1st or 2nd round). I doubt they draft a WR in the first, but it wouldn't surprise me either.I'd say whether we extend Brown or not depends on how well our rookies, 2nd and 3rd year players end up playing this year. Right but you're probably two years away from that.I absolutely agree with this and if they feel they won't be extending Hollywood due to cost, I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft a WR high in the draft (1st or 2nd round). That’s kinda my confusion here if it ends up happening. I know we have to prepare for the possibility of Dobbins and/or Edwards not being ready, but is this the best way to do that? Lots of young options in the draft. Still think it would be in play to some extent but also just have to think they’re saying hey if you thought it was going to be a heavy defense draft before…Don't know how much he'd cost, but would make the RB group truly elite right? Maybe the Ravens have 0 interest in using a draft pick on a running back with the state of the defense.
Disagree about Humph matchup with best in the league. He has been solid in the slot but struggled recently on the outside. Seems like were forcing the issue of him playing outside because he got paid. We need to just let him excel insideI'd say our linebacking core, both inside and outside, is weaker.

sad to see Tavon Young sign with the Bears.
I meant that pair of Corners is as good as any team in the league has for a pair of Corners.Disagree about Humph matchup with best in the league.
