With how all the other games played out today, this would have been a rare perfect game day if we would have got the victory. we all were robbed of that by our defense.

In Calais' presser he says the collapse was more mental than anything. I wonder if he meant like talking the foot off the gas mental or we actually played defense poorly because we were confused about things. Probably both
Like someone else said the D broke out the cigars and popped beers and forgot there was 10 minutes left in the game. When we had to settle for a Tuck score with 2:00 to play I knew we were going to either go to OT or lose.

@29BmoreBird22 #1 on your list has been one of my biggest reasons for the Roman hate. He's supposed to be some run game guru but he doesn't seem able to build it naturally without a mobile qb. Said numerous time the running game shouldn't be focused around your qb no matter how good he is at it.

mostly agreed albeit im just not sure what other options there were outside of drafting someone other than kyle hamilton at 14
but i cant agree on the greg roman stuff - he's coordinating a dynamic and explosive passing attack... feels like a very lamar-esque moving of goalposts to minimise that part of his job just because the running game isnt working well - i get that he's the running game savant and that's what he's known for but people have gone way too hard on the roman's basically just the run game coordinator stuff - even with tyrod taylor, roman designed an explosive, efficient downfield passing attack - that has always been his philosophy

i feel like this forum is turning me into a greg roman disciple just because i feel like people are way to in their feelings about him

i think what you can be critical of today was some of the situational playcalling like you mentioned with the over-commitment to an inefficient running game - and it's put into even sharper relief by the one time we bootlegged and had 2 guys wide open in the endzone for a TD
I don't dislike the Hamilton pick at all. Look at the rookies who were drafted around him and tell me who makes a major difference today and lets the Ravens win. I don't think any single player drafted between Hamilton and Linderbaum makes a difference today.

Like I said- how much is on Greg, how much is on Williams/Martin, and how much is just Lamar? I don't know. This is the first time that I've really seen a cohesive passing attack that I've been happy with, personally, so I have to wonder what the spark in the change was, but as far as the passing game goes, I'm happy two weeks in. If Roman is the one who overhauled his own offense and designed a competent passing game, I'm all for giving him credit where it's due.

i think we have to be somewhat patient too though

we discussed it all offseason that this team was constructed with the understanding that it would likely be a better team in december than it was in september barring injury-related disaster
Unfortunately, the Ravens are going to have to win the tough football games like this one to make that December football matter.

Unfortunately so far, through two games, the injury gods have not been very kind to us.

i think you can see a lot of roman's old offences in this passing attack right now
just dont think he's ever had a QB as good as Lamar to run it as well as it's going

im sure that tee and keith have helped the execution of route combos and helping make those concepts work but i dont think theres anything drastically obvious in the passing concepts that strike me as being not Roman's... which is not to belittle the job those 2 guys have done because i think they've been awesome since they arrived

if you look at the 2020 passing attack before ronnie got injured, i think you could see the beginning of that transition, then 2021 the passing attack was dynamic but eventually got destroyed because OL couldnt pass protect and 2022 is the attack he's been trying to develop for 2 years now
