The Random Thought Thread

If Lamar made the mistakes Allen made today you'd be cursing his name. He's been turning the ball over like crazy since the Packers game. Just dumb decisions.
I really do dislike qbs who make bad decisions but this isnt something we will consistently see from allen so i dnt think its all that bad

Pretty well. How you doing? Sorry I didn't post sooner. Since I don't have any friends, I'll try to make myself more available on weekends to keep up with your guys posting levels. My apologies. I'll try to reserve my Sunday's for "butthurt people on message boards" going forward.

Ok, sounds great! Good to hear from your characteristically cheerful, humble self this morning

I thought having a Bye would not be stressful but it actually was, as so many teams I was rooting against won and the Vikings did not make it easy. Turns out, I did need all my blood pressure meds. LOL!

2006 is by far the best defense in Ravens history in my opinion as well. If we had that defense with Lamar Jackson at QB, oh man!
McNair was a game manager at that point in his career, would have been insane to have LJ. Idk about the best defense but I could see an arguement for 00, 06, 08. Those we’re all so fun to watch

Definitely. But it wasn't good if you know what I mean lol. Kirk is horrible all the time, this game was no different. JJ18 is that entire offense. Then Josh Allen did his best LJ impression on the ground and through terrible after terrible pass all game. Bailed out over and over by the vikings having bricks for hands and Diggs being elite.

That game was just sloppy and ugly as fuck the whole time mixed with crazy plays of pure magic and mytique.

Kirk gets a little to much hate IMO. I don’t think anyone is confusing him for a top QB in the league. I’m just not sold on him being terrible. Honestly reminds me a lot of Flacco, consistently average and will occasionally do something special.

That's probably true. He's not a guy you should be trying to win a SB with though. Unless you have a stacked roster and don't draft high in the first round so you don't have A QB

Man if you need blood pressure meds to watch football when your team isn’t even playing… you should reevaluate some things lmao

I’m really enjoying the overreaction to the Jeff Saturday hire. People saying things like this is the worst thing to happen to the NFL lol. Really? This is one of the worst things to happen to the NFL? Folks love to be angry

I honestly don't know why people want a minority coach to be hired in this spot anyway. It's a lose/lose situation. Colts aren't good enough to make a run, and whoever coaches this team isn't going to suddenly get a bunch of HC interviews.

Sloppy yes, but the last 2 minutes of RT was both sloppy and epic.

Yeah IDK about that. It’s the opportunity that matters to all those assistants who are working their way up the ranks to get that shot at a HC job. Saturday was offered assistant jobs on multiple occasions but i guess he felt he was too good to have to work for it.

I mean is it though? Like that opportunity is only valuable if its successful. If they put Reggie Wayne in there and he goes 1-7, he's not getting any calls for a HC gig for a long, long, long time. Maybe never again. He'll have to go through several different levels to get there.
And realistically, its same thing with Saturday. He's not out there calling plays, so if the Colts fail in his tenure (and I think they will), he's not going to be getting a lot of coaching opportunities elsewhere in the Pros. As an assistant, maybe, but his next coaching gig is 100% a demotion.

Had this happened when the Colts had like an open-hiring process after the season was over, then sure, there should be a lot of pissed off people. But realistically, the # of people that could have gotten this job was limited to those within the organization. That pretty much immediately reduces the minority candidate pool to very small numbers.

Would also point out that I think its a much easier path to higher coaching positions for ex-players, and I'm not surprised when somebody like a Saturday doesn't want to be an assistant coach. It sucks. Tons of hours, lots of stress, not really a lot of pay, and its significantly less pay than a lot of these guys made as players. And they're working more than players do in most cases.

Like how many assistant coaching jobs did Deion Sanders have? Like Ed Reed's been openly talking about coaching for a long, long time now, and he could only stomach one year as an assistant DB coach.

Life is a game, learn how to play the game - (my fathers voice)

That is how I feel about alot of these coaches not getting the chances

That being said, Ed Reed is not playing the game. Sanders is

Flacco is a good comp for Kirk. I do think he displays a little more passion out on the field, but I think he is right there with Flacco in terms of overall play.
