The Running Game, The Mess and The Greg Roman

it's odd - because they wanted to keep the trade quiet so that they could potentially draft a WR at 14 but they all went ahead of us and we got Hamilton instead (who we never thought would be available there)

the problem was that he didnt pivot after that to aggressively replace Hollywood after none of the 4 guys we wanted were available - either to go after a vet or use some picks to go up and make sure you get a guy you like
I always know very little about prospects other from what I read in the draft threads. Other from swapping Ojabo with Pickens, I thought he did a great job addressing center and safety in the first. Both of which were question marks going into the offseason.

I also was on the record to see what guys like Duvernay and Proche would do with larger roles. Neither of which have sold me as long-term solutions. I'm absolutely done with Proche. Duvernay has a confidence issue that HE needs to deal with rather quickly.
EDC drafting a WR rather than Linderbaum was certainly possible but we’ll never know. For the record I was on board with EDCs strategy, i was really tired of the Ravens signing everyone else’s throwaways at the WR position. I really wanted to believe EDC had cracked the code drafted some in house threats that we could develop into great players , much like the Steelers have done. I just don’t see how EDC, with his insight, thought this was ok. He knew what he had and so did John.

Let’s bail this guy out of jail

You can’t predict injuries but no one survive the season unscathed. That being said he either thought:
A) Batemen, Andrews, and the run game were enough for this offense to be succesful and the depth issues weren’t significant enough to attack.
B) The depth at WR was quality enough to compliment the above and fill in when called upon.

Both are completely unacceptable for EDC/Harbs
….or C) He didn’t have the resources to properly address WR injury/depth issues after using them to fill the all the other holes on the team.

Every team has holes. I'd still rather have the OL than another wr right now but our attitude towards the position APPEARS awful. I saw appears because it's not like we haven't tried. We're just not good at it. The team needs to take a trade approach or find a new scouts with a better eye for talent. Also, knowing that Hollywood has been begging for a trade maybe double dipping at the position for the Bateman draft might have been a good idea.

Nvm. Yuck. We did and it was Tylan

I meant we could have signed him in the coming off-season.

Chicago weren't looking to re-sign him so he was going to hit the market anyway and first refusal won't mean much unless we're willing to meet his asking price, which will be to reset the ILB market. Spending all that money would look more sustainable if we still had a valuable draft pick in hand.
So you’re okay with spending well over market value for an ILB, but not okay with spending a 2nd and avoiding the inevitable bidding war?

We wouldn’t have landed Ro on the open market, if we did we would have had to massively overpay. Keeping a first time FA out of the process and getting negotiating rights can save you many millions a year

I was shocked that Dobbins was so hobbled. He may never be the same guy, unfortunate.
Not giving up hope on him but by the time he is back will be his last year withbus or on a new team. Knew he wasn't back when he broke the big run last week. Respect his heart and work ethic though. All these guys have busted their ass to get to where they are now just for plenty of fans to shit on them.

Signing Roquan when we did, and for what we spent, was a top notch move. Really no debate there.

especially when you get to embed him in the organisation, get used to him, get an idea of how he fits and give him reasons to want to stick around

Exactly, there is way too much being said about his “asking price” and not nearly enough being said about teams that will offer well above that number to secure him.

EDC is going to address the receivers one way or another.

I am not worried about that. Going into this draft he said he spoke with Lamar and he told EDC that he wanted an O-line. He got it. Now we need to bring some tough mfs in at the receiver position.

And take the mic away from John when asked about receivers coming here. He's not selling it home lmfao

I never thought I would say this about my team, but I think it may be better to just implode and continue to look like bums and not make the playoffs and have the big names continue to talk bad about our coaching. Maybe that will be enough for Biscotti to finally clean house. If Harbs stays, even if he replaces Roman, he will just bring in another of his buddies. It will continue to be the same old same old. We need real change! I want Lamar to play and for us to keep losing like this, with Harbs failing on 4th and one near the goal line so there are no excuses and real mutiny. I am completely done with this team’s coaching this season! DONE!
I want to make the playoffs and Lamar go off, we can still beat anyone with Lamar playing great and our defense playing great.

...wait... Lemme get this straight, we averaged almost 10ypc yesterday and this board is blaming failures NOW on the GM for not doing something about WR?! You have to be fucking kidding me.

EDC should have Greg Roman in the office tomorrow asking him why he's not utilizing returning players in situations where they have proven they are the main contribution. That's the real issue. Using Gus and JK more appropriately until the opponent adjusts and then opens up Andrews and our corp of #4 WR's is the real thing that needs to be explained, not a drafting plan. For goodness sakes, already!

Lamar doesn’t have anyone to throw to though besides Mark, and Roman will still be calling the plays (unless fired today or tomorrow which I doubt). We’ll sputter on offense. Lamar can only do so much

Well Robinson was playing ok but he fumbled what 3 times yesterday? Completely unacceptable
