Lamar Jackson

Actually for me, its totally about agent vs non-agent. Didn't hear any public discussions or complaining from NFLPA about Wilson or Murray not getting fully gtd deals. Guarantee you won't hear any of that from NFLPA about Hurts, Herbert or Burrow, of which all or some are at least as deserving, if not more so.

Its because he doesn't have an agent, and the NFLPA is using him as a pawn to get what they want, which is the official precedent of fully gtd deals beyond 3 years. They know Watson is the outlier right now. They need another.

Guaranteed every agent would be telling DeMaurice Smith to fuck off hard if they were doing this to a player who already had representation.
Fair point. He definitely should have had an agent, and for sure the union is taking advantage of the fact that he doesn’t. He’s in a tough spot.

Obviously something is up but we will find out soon enough because if teams are colluding to never give a Watson type of contract out again, then what will Burrow, Hurts and Herbert get? You know their agents will push for something similar, and both Burrow & Hurts have took their teams to the Super Bowl.

I love Lamar, but I don't think he has handled this properly and that starts with him not having an agent.
Even with an agent i dnt think nothing would have changed other than getting a deal maybe 2yrs ago. If lamar tells the agent he wants 200 million gtd and nothing less, if ravens dont wanna pay, we would still be in this situation.. tbh, this probably the only way ravens could force lamar to take their offer

If these rumors are actually true, I wonder if EDC bulks on what he originally offered and tells Lamar, “Sorry but those offers are no longer on the table.”
Like I said earlier, the 3 year FULLY guaranteed deal averaging over 50m per season that they apparently offered him on Monday(according to Will Decosta, Eric’s nephew that lives with him) is off the table now that he declined it. I think if anything this free agency period will be a healthy serving of humble pie for Lamar in the grand scheme of things.

Nah that’s unprofessional and not our style. We gave Lamar a number and we should honor it

It’s already been reported that talks have progressed well with Burrow and Hurts and those deals are NOT in line to be fully guaranteed

thing is i'm not so sure it would have come to this with an agent. he also would have done better for himself in sponsorships with an agent. An agent speaking on your behalf is better than the athlete doing it himself

I am quite sure Cincy is not using the non exclusive on Burrow, because he may be the one exception for a Watson type deal.

If he had an agent, the agent would be advising him.

Not the NFLPA that constantly claims to work for the players with shoddy results. That’s where the mistake was made

This is just going to create more drama smh. Now rumors will swirl that the Ravens colluded with other NFL owners and will just piss off Lamar even more.
I’m not an attorney but wouldn’t the ravens and other team(s) have to commit fraud in order to be convicted of collusion? And wouldn’t it be fair for the ravens to accuse the NFLPA and player agents of colluding against them? I mean they basically admitted publicly that they are using Lamar to push for future fully guaranteed contracts.

I mean of course the NFLPA wants full guaranteed contracts, and of course owners don’t want them. Collusion from either side seems to be a stretch to me.

If all that is the case I hate that for the Ravens and Lamar.

Exactly. Only in that case, it would have to be 220 so the agent gets his cut.

It's only a crime if you can prove it.
