From the get go people were beating up the F/O. Its obviously a complicated deal, but this has always been a class organization that players speak highly of, so I just couldn’t get behind the cheap or disrespectful narrative. It’s never been our MO, even when we know someone is gone we wish them well and don’t stand in the way of them exploring other options.
Pretty much agree with this. The Ravens have their own business model. They have rarely ever wavered. They have always been fair paying players who fit their requirements of character and talent. Are they cheap? Depends on your perspective I suppose, but I would say they have been successfully thrifty.

Yeah it says something about his character. I try to keep an open mind about all of this because I believe he’s had some bad advice along the way. Had he hired an agent and just focus on what he does best this situation would not exist right now. I mean the business side of football is not always pretty and I just don’t think he knew what he was getting himself into by acting as his own agent.
Same. I’m perfectly fine with going into negotiations agentless, but you gotta know what you’re doing. Lamar not only doesn’t know what he’s doing, but also it appears he hasn’t bothered to educate himself about shit

I somewhat disagree. I think there's a misconception that like he doesn't understand the contract language. I think he does.
He just basically discounts anything that's not fully gtd, because it comes with some semblance of risk on his part (even if that risk is minor).

I think its just clear that what he wants in terms of fully gtd is a lot higher. And the frustration is that he uses social media to discredit reports about him, but doesn't have the balls to say what's real. Just say what the # is.

My guess is he won't say what the # is, because I think he ultimately knows the public won't be on his side if he does. Because his #, I would guess, is in the Watson range. If not more.

I think he understands the offers. I just think he's a horrendously bad negotiator and has unrealistic expectations of what somebody is willing to pay him. And I one million percent think he's getting really shitty advice from people at the NFLPA that really don't give a fuck about him at all. They care about getting what they weren't strong enough to get during CBA negotiations.

Hence why I really, really, really hope we get an offer sheet soon. And like others, I have a suspicion it might be the Colts.

think this just confirms that we still have no new details since september

all these contract offers are the old contract offers - the reason we keep seeing 133m isnt necessarily because that's the ravens sticking point but because that's the last number anyone's confirmed which was back in september

so all the details we have on contracts are over 6 months old
I thought at one point that 133 was raised to 140 also, but again none of us no the details or even what is actually correct.

So here's my take, it's purely a guess. Lamar wants as much guaranteed money as possible likely due to some ego plus NFLPA bs. He turned down approximately 3 years in a row where he'd make 45M dollars. I could be wrong but I don't think Lamar is quibbling over 9 to 12M. Like I don't think Lamar is jumping for joy if EDC came back and said how about 3 years 146M.

I think there's a legitimate chance that Lamar wants close to 100M more than what is being offered and guaranteed at signing. If true, contracts don't get signed when negotiations are that far apart. And if negotiations are that far apart, the fact that EDC hasn't already traded Lamar is heinous.

I'm not asserting by any means that is definitely what's happening, but if it is, Lamar and Eric are both idiots and blowing this situation for their respective sides

Yeah I think Google has failed him.

Something about this whole thing is fishy.

Eric repeatedly says we're confident we can get a deal done? Harbs says 200% he's gonna be a Raven. Eric says Harbs does not want a rebuild. Honestly kinda crazy that they view losing Lamar as a full on rebuild. Kinda of a ridiculous statement when you consider the roster.

It's showing that the FO and HC want Lamar to be the QB desperately, but are ridiculously far apart in negotiations. Lamar makes it clear he'd probably take a 200M fully guaranteed deal.

Then the nonexclusive gets slapped and we're here now. I really don't get why he's not signed (there's risks there) or he isn't traded like this week.

Bro if he goes to Tampa I will be upset only because I’m trying to take my 7 year old to games this year. Kyle Trasik tickets are going to be a hell of a lot cheaper than Lamar tickets

If we trade Lamar, my boys (10 and 6), are going to be mad. Lamar is my 6 year olds favorite player and since Baltimore plays in San Francisco this year I told them I would take them to a game. My 10 year olds favorite player is Mahomes so it’s easy to see which is my favorite lol jk

Pretty much. He could theoretically get cut after year 3, which is true of literally every contract not named Watson.

Basically he wants fully gtd so, if he sucks, he still gets paid.

Good luck with that.
I just need some luck with understanding how people see anything wrong with him wanting more gtd years or money. Im starting to think the only reason why people making a big deal is because its lamar and they dont expect much out of him

I think we are going to be fine. Lamar Jackson is one of the biggest if not the biggest name in football right now. All everyone wants to do is talk about him day in and day out.

The contract situation is new for a lot of fans especially since Baltimore isn't exactly known for big ticket QB's.

When it comes to money, fans will turn on you quickly.

Suggs said it earlier before. It's just wired that way for alot of fans. Protect the team not the player.

Well mostly because only one person has gotten more gtd years or $, and most people assume that's an outlier at this point.

If Watson's deal wasn't a thing, which a lot of people think it shouldn't be used as a comp for anything, the metrics of his deal basically makes it one of the more lucrative deals in NFL history. Certainly in terms of full guarantees.

I need some luck understanding why Lamar thinks he's deserved more guaranteed $ or more than 3 years fully guaranteed. That one makes no logical sense to me whatsoever.

End of day its the same thing its been for two years now. Lamar thinks Watson is the bar, and nobody else thinks that. And to this point, NFL owners are part of the "nobody else" club. Which is kind of significant, considering they're the one's signing the checks.

What gives you an impression he doesn't know what he's doing?

He's made at least 65 mil so far. His family is taken care of forever. In all likelihood, he'll make 100 by the end of 2024 and it will be all on his terms. Not the agent's or the 32 fat greedy MFs who are obviously playing a dirty game.

Since high school he's been told to switch positions if he wants to make it. He didn't and one college offer came through. Same with going to pros. For his entire rookie contract he's been asked to do more than any other player in the NFL and he did. Wasn't complaining when D repeatedly blew 2, 3 score leads he made. Wasn't complaining when he gets to throw to Dez Bryant, DJax and washed up Watkins or has to run through the middle when it gets dicey but that's the only way to move the sticks.

Still no real effort to bring in competent receivers but hey, here's 100 mil to middle LB.

He sets the price if they want him to play longer and I wouldn't be surprised if the price is lower for other teams.

The reports are Lamar’s mother is the one taking the calls .
