...would've really like a W yesterday, but 2/3 in every series is an incredible season. Let's get it started on a good note tonight.

Given the recent comments by JA about not being able to keep the young core together, I looked to spotrac to see exactly how long our core players are under contract for. I know with arbitration, things are a bit different in MLB but it looks like some of these players won't become true free agents until 2025 or later. I'd say the window to win the World Series(or multiple if we copy the Astros) will be the rest of the decade with this core group if ownership really will end up letting some of these players go.

Mountcastle: UFA in 2026
Rutschman: UFA in 2027
Gunnar: UFA in 2030
Bautista: UFA in 2028
Hays: UFA in 2026
Means: UFA in 2025

8 runs in the last two innings.... what a team this is, we got something special brewing here.

I'd like to see us get off to a good start tonight. NL teams worry me. We only play them one series, so it's hard to say it's a trend; but we've basically swept the bad teams and gone 1-3 against each of the better NL teams. Not sure what to make of the Dbacks. Def a middling team, but 6-4 in the last 10 and only one out of the WC. They definitely have something to play for. But then, so do we! ;)

Adley signed a major league contract when drafted so even his minor league service counted as pro service.

Retiring as an Oriole that day. Im going to do my best to watch.

We haven't been to a game all year, vacations and kids working have kept us from it. But the wife surprised me - and the kids, with tickets about 2 weeks ago and they turned into the Adam Jones Retirement Night. Nice. I'm still a little salty on him rejecting that trade, but he did negotiate the deal. I won't hold it against him, I guess. ;) I would LOVE a Delmon Young Night tho, to be completely honest. lol

The local feed is the last half. Man, that was fun.

Jorge Lopez claimed off waivers. That may be signaling bad news concerning Felix.
Looking at his stats this year, I don't think those 2 are necessarily related. I still have a bad feeling about Felix, but not because they brought Jorge back

Guess we do what we always do, lose one but take the other two games. Here's to hopefully another 2/3 series win tomorrow, also Rays lost! Our lead is now 2.5 games over them.

Re Felix, there was some talk on another board about the timing of TJ for him. Seems any kind of strain or tear to the UCL is not "rehab-able." Apparently, it's an inelastic tendon and when it stretches, it never returns to it's former tautness which is what necessitates the surgery as much as tearing it out right. Some seemed to think there was the chance with some rest that the swelling would go down enough and that since it wasn't completely torn that he might be able to return on a limited basis, depending on pain. There was evidently some precedent for that with an Angel pitcher a few years ago? Not sure. But, for me, he's probably done until late 2024 or more likely 2025. Sad.

Big win last night made better by a Tampa loss. Was having a late burger with my son, who had just returned from a day of fishing, at Swallow at the Hollow and caught the 6th inning while eating. The whole place, pretty full, was watching the game which was surprisingly on every tv in the joint. Lots of fun. Only thing missing was Mr. Sprinkler. lol

EDIT----
The pitcher was a Dodger and this is from a recent article by Jay Jaffe-
"Gonsolin had apparently been pitching through a UCL tear, something he and the Dodgers knew based on imaging done after that June 13 start. Mindful of the concurrent losses of Dustin May and Julio Urías to the IL, Gonsolin elected to pitch through the injury. “I was just hoping I could make it through the season, put up good numbers and just post,” he told reporters. “I thought I had full capability to do that.”

The thought is Jorge will have an epiphany after returning to familiar surroundings and friends. Let’s hope it happens.

Hindsight being 20/20 it seems like Jones didn't want to play for nobody else even a contendor. Says a lot. Enjoy the game and cheer Adam on.

Something tells me Jackson will be on the Opening Day roster in 2024, he's moving fast in developmental.

It took the Rays 11 innings to beat Boston, but we beat the Angels in 10.
