I think this team could make a trade or two for a lot of different groups, and I don't see why RB would be excluded from it.
But agreed, lack of available players is a whole different story. Obviously the internet would tell you that Saquon Barkley makes some sense, but you're pretty much narrowed down to RBs who are good on teams that aren't post-season bound. And there aren't many.

If I were to dart throw some names:
Barkley, Henry, Jacobs are all UFAs after this season and its questionable whether they're in the long term plans of those teams. Also three teams that could find themselves falling out of the playoff hunt by the trade deadline. But still early on that one.

Also would look at three other guys... Conner in Arizona, Jones in GB, and Gibson in WAS. Gibson is a UFA next year and has seemingly fallen out of favor in WAS, though not sure he's a chain mover. Conner and Jones (specifically) are at the tail end of their contracts and could easily not be part of those teams plans for '24. If GB falls out of the playoff hunt, I think trading some assets for picks makes sense.

Totally speculative though. Have no idea if even one of these guys would ever be available.

Barkley is the shiny toy that the media is now telling the Ravens to go get.

I don't see the Titans helping us with Henry either. Not without some capital that I am not willing to part with.

Agreed. I don't think they're trading him. I think they'll at least think they're in playoff contention mode until after the deadline.

Trades are hard to come by in the NFL. Every year lots of teams that are out of the playoff race don't trade good players they're planning to not keep.
If we're going for a RB, I'd personally like to see us get somebody who will be good out of the backfield as well. Edwards isn't, and this offense could use some more utilization from RBs in the passing game.

The Saints would be an out of conference team that has a guy I think could help us.

Kamara is my choice purely from a football perspective he fits what we are doing, especially as a pass catcher.

Issue is his numbers are way down and he probably costs an arm and a leg assuming the Saints even want to dump him off

They're probably the front runners to win that division, or at least will be competing for it all year. More likely to be buyers than sellers.

Welp, Keaton is going to have to turn into Chris Johnson

Isn’t that why we have Hill ?

Agreed! I've been saying this to friends of mine for a while now. Gus is more of a blocking/downhill RB but is limited to that role. We need a more versatile back that can run routes and catch as well.

Ill trade Bateman for Derrick Henry straight up !

Henry is getting subbed out for rookie, Spears, in passing situations cause he can’t catch.

We need a RB that can do all. Give me Saquon or Jacobs!

Barkley also couldn't do much with bad blocking in front of him. Before he broke one run yesterday, he had 2.4y average on 15-16 carries.
There is nothing wrong with Gus and Hill game when our O line plays well. Except Hill's fumbles.

Javonte Williams would be an awesome fit as a powerful workhorse and I’d imagine Denver wouldn’t mind parting ways given their situation

OK, so what games have the Oline played well? Because I can point to maybe two games out of 6 so far this season where our RBs, collectively, have looked "good". And I think we're being very cavalier with what qualifies as "good":

Houston: 24 for 63
Cincinnati: 22 for 103
Indianapolis: 22 for 83
Cleveland: 21 for 102
Pittsburgh: 19 for 80
Tennessee: 24 for 76

These are pretty much exactly what "replacement level" #s for an NFL running game looks like. You can swap out the jerseys and players and put just about any NFL RB in there and get at least the same output.

This was my first thought... and then remembered he's coming back from a major injury. Not trying to tempt the gods.

would like aj dillion, but saquon is good this offense needs a rb that can simply take a 5 yard to a 15 yarder other then lamar

Looks like it to me that the offensive line just needs to block better or should I say execute their blocks better for the running backs the team have now. Unless they can trade for a special running back then it's probably nothing any other running back they current have can't do. If they need a running back with speed then theirs Hill , Mitchell, and Drake. If they need a power back then they have Edwards and if they need a running back that can run with power and speed than they have Gordon.

what metric are you going by this o line is not top 5 at all?
also the wrs apart from zay arent good
The WRs apart from Zay are very good. The problem is that the playcalling is just terrible. Basically you are asking me to believe that every single player on the Ravens, except for Flowers who as a rookie this comparison does not work, has gotten worse since the last time we saw them play. Whether its FAs like OBJ or consistently decent but injured players like Bateman or the RBs or even some of the blocking. Basically either every player who is playing got worse or, and I hate typing this, the playcalling is not taking advantage of what they can do.
