Possible. He can't restructure though, so I have a feeling the $ is going to become an issue with any of the "big three" guys we're talking about. We're on the hook for a substantial amount of $ (that we don't currently have).

Makes sense to me. Regardless of whether they're keeping Fields or gunning for an upgrade, they have a shit load of cap space next year, and they need defensive help at nearly every position.
They give up a draft pick and can easily afford to extend him. Think its a good move if you like the player.
