I just don't think Madibuike is elite. I think he's a quality player and someone you'd love to keep on your roster, but I think his box score stats are largely inflated and he falls into the category of a player who will receive a bigger contract than he's worth. I am expecting definite regression. I think his current play is unsustainable. I wouldn't break the bank on him when the Ravens have a pretty bare bones roster at key positions elsewhere.
I just firmly disagree on the madubuike analysis and that’s fine. I think he’s ascending. Everything he’s showing is what I saw on his college tape that made me think he could genuinely be this player, he’s got elite flexibility, elite hand strength, elite lateral movement, elite motor, he’s not lucking into coverage sacks, dudes just able to bear down on the qb at a ridiculous rate and always be there to finish the capitalize when they don’t release the ball on time. I just think this is the year it’s all coming together for him

i think void years are clearly a tool
i think they were forced to use them on more contracts than they'd have wanted to last year, dont think they'll blanket stop using them - just think that when they use them it'll be for a deal like a potential madubuike deal
Exactly. If the option is on the table, madubuike is the kinda guy you take the option for.

You know I saw all those things on the college tape lol

You know he’s been my guy since long before we drafted him

He could be setting the edge in run D.
A panther fan just told me that panthers are last in sacks and something about least passes defended as a defense so yea teams are basically running vs them all game im assuming which could lead to houston setting edge most of time

And you know I was right there with you on madubuike lol, I felt like he was gonna be a classic Seahawks or cowboys late first/early second I couldn’t believe we got him as late as we did

I mean if we're talking cap hits, I think you can find an OT for $8M cap hit that would do at least as well. You could argue Mekari is probably 80% of what Stanley is, and he doesn't cost $8M in cap space. The cap hit is just a one year number, so even if I were to sign somebody for $12-14M AAV in FA, I could easily structure at a year 1 cap hit of $8M.
For him, it'll likely come down to cash instead of cap. Is the owner going to pay him $15M to play like this (and potentially not even be a starter)? Or does the FO think another offseason of rest/recovery and training will make him better? I don't know the answer to that either.

I think the FT for JM is troublesome, but it can be done. If they're as concerned about that as they were with Lamar, then using void years solves all their problems.
I just checked out the tackle market that are currently free agents and while I'm not as familiar with the NFL as a whole like I used to be, the list looked pretty bleak. There's a few names on there that stood out, but I just don't know that free agency is the way to go. With how scarce good tackles are, they just don't hit the market often when they're worth retaining, or if they do, they're firmly out of the Ravens price range.

I think the only way Stanley gets let go this year would be if the Ravens want Mekari to start and I just think they value his versatility over his ability to start at left tackle. Obviously, we'll see how things shake out, but I just don't think releasing Stanely is the productive move this year.

What do you think happens with agholor?
I'd love to have Agholor back. I think he's a veteran presence in a young wide receiver group and is a willing and able blocker who's shown up and made a few clutch plays when he's been asked to. I don't know if he'll want a bigger role, though. If the Ravens could get him back, and he wouldn't likely cost much, I'd love to have him back.

I don't think he's only had coverage sacks. He's had a few sacks where he just absolutely tore through his man and obliterated the quarterback almost instantly. I just don't see that showing up as often as I would hope for from someone who will likely garner a very massive pay day.

I suppose it's about consistency for me.

I had Madubuike second out of guys in that range... behind Jordan Elliott. Glad they didn't listen to me lol

haha i had him as the 24th best prospect in that class... 1 spot behind queen at 23
lots of guys in that class i missed on... was way too low on tee higgins, way too high on denzel mims for example

but madubuike i saw as a 1st round talent and was delighted we got him in the 3rd

id be surprised if ronnie's gone before the draft in 2024
if they take a tackle and they love him, i could see them deciding to take the savings post june 1st at that point - but i dont think the plan will be for ronnie to not be on the roster come free agency and i dont think they'll actively be looking to replace him outright

still think the play is a tyler smith - tyron smith type plan like the cowboys did in the 2022 draft

Yeah it wasn’t an I didn’t like Mads type of thing (but not quite as much as you). I just really liked Elliott. And then Gallimore a distant 3rd. Part of the fun of scouting lol

i think the thing is... a lot of the non-sacks have looked like that - a bunch of pressures have looked dominant... the sacks have been varying levels of difficulty and a fair amount of cleanup sacks (not necessarily coverage sacks) but the pressures have been consistently high-quality
