The Defense, The MVP, and The Brock Purdy

Lamar is certainly putting the pressure on the powers that be to take the literal definition and not the statistical standout. The guys that were in the running and likely to win have all faltered in recent weeks, leaving Lamar and a whole bunch of guys with question marks... just different question marks. Not sure there's anyone that embodies the words "most valuable player" more at this juncture, but the voters are going to have to get over their prototype. It seemingly doesn't exist this year.

if they go with epa/play then it's purdy
but it's clearly not purdy...

in terms of guys finishing strong... feels like it can only be lamar or maybe josh allen if he goes crazy these last 2 games - or i guess the real wildcard is tyreek if he hits 2k yards and the dolphins steal the 1 seed...

think the NFC contenders have clearly all fallen away

Yeah they're going to have to make concessions.

Lamar is the statistical anomaly but arguably the most valuable in the truest sense of the title

Allen has rebounded and put his team back in it with a lot of TDs, but have to overlook the turnover numbers

Tyreek is also arguably the most valuable but at a position that has never won the award, and a non-QB hasn't won since Adrian Peterson in 2012

I think when two leading MVP candidates go head to head, the winner of that match often gets a nudge. But with last night, if Lamar manages the last two games with the command he had last night, there's no way he doesn't get it.

the argument for MVP is over...
he is doing so much more with so much less... he's got a rotating triage ward at OT on both sides, he's got no reliable non-qb running game to work with and all the explosive players in that unit are out for the year, his best receiver is out and has been missing for the entire stretch and he's got a receiving corps that's not been particularly making more out of less

the only argument against him winning mvp is the TD numbers - but he's had 10 TDs "stolen" from him inside the 2 yard line lol (which is the one place where our non-qb running game has been hyper-effective at cashing in by the goal-line)

i dont know if there is a "fix" to the running game... especially if the coaching staff simply refuse to get melvin gordon involved (clearly not rating him)
and of course, now the argument against Lamar as MVP is his numbers aren't as good as 2019. They will say anything not to give it to him.

I think CMC deserves a shot at MVP as well

It's pitiful how these cats want to keep moving the goalpost every time Lamar and the Ravens blow their makeshift theories out of the water.
It's been like that since the start of our existence. Probally got it in 2019 cuz he was the shiny new toy under the tree. You know they wanted the purdy boy to win. BOOM!!!

I think another good point is Lamar is healthy and we’re winning consistently with him healthy. With healthy Lamar, we’re the number 1 seed. The past two years we didn’t have healthy end of year Lamar and we’ve seen how that story goes. It’s a team game and there’s more than MVP.

If what we’ve seen Lamar do this year and the impact of not having him prior years is not MVP I don’t know what is.

Maybe they give it Prescott.

Needless to say its Lamar that is the best player in the NFL right now even if he doesn't win the MVP.
