Coaching Carousel 2024

So Adam Schefter says both the Seahawks and Commanders don't plan on hiring anyone until after the Championship Games. Obviously if the 49ers win, Ben Johnson becomes available immediately and will likely be named Head Coach of the Commanders on Monday. This also makes me think that if Seattle is waiting until next week, that Macdonald is number one for them over Quinn. They can just hire Quinn now, no wait needed. Only need to wait for Macdonald, and when we win, will the Seahawks wait until after the Super Bowl?
Idk how accurate it is talking to my Seahawks friend, also not sure if this was stated earlier, but he said something about Geno’s guaranteed money going into effect Valentine’s Day.

If that’s the case and they still have to hire coordinators, if the Ravens won Sunday, it would only give the Seahawks 2 days to hire a new HC and decide on what to do with Geno and coordinators.

I’m hoping with that said, if the Ravens win Sunday, that means another year with McDonald.

If Ravens win Sunday… that means another stellar showcase for our defense. This time, it’s against Mahomes with 40+ million watching.

I have a bad feeling he’s going to the Seahawks. Makes too much sense with how MacD went 3-0 against the Shanahan Boys.

Mina Kimes said MacD is her top choice for her beloved Seahawks. And she knows ball.

As much as I appreciate Mina Kimes, she needs to appreciate Dan Quinn and leave us alone.

So... a) I might have missed it, but I've not seen MM get even a single interview with Seattle yet. So I doubt he would be considered a front-runner for that job, given he's had zero interviews so far. They have 4-5 guys who will be getting second interviews already.
And b) The Seahawks have a GM, who I believe basically has full control over personnel decisions. So pretty much any HC they hire likely won't have much input into Geno as QB to begin with.

Given that his cap hit is a reasonable $31M next year, he's due only $22.5M in comp in '24, and Seattle really isn't in a position to get a better start via FA or the draft in '24, I'd be quite surprised if they decided to move on.

If we do lose MacDonald I wonder if we could convince Belichick to be a DC. Just send him game tape of Hamilton to convince him.

Or they realize they’ll essentially be the only team remaining and there’s no reason to rush a decision without talking to a viable candidate in person first.

we would have a better chance getting LT out of retirement.

I wouldn't even want BB on our sideline
Why not? His defenses have been good for over twenty years, and he does a great job shutting down the other team's top players. His only issues in New England was constructing offenses.

If this happened 2 years ago, my guess is you'd have wanted the same.

You just missed on Mike Macdonald.

Every hire means the possibility of missing out on someone else that's also great. For all we know if we promoted Anthony Weaver instead we'd have ten shut outs in the season.

The focus should just be hire the one that makes the best impression and has the best plans for the players already in place, regardless if it's a young internal hire or an old, former HC.

Nah. Not the 70 year old one.
And not the cheating bastard like him.

Just one spot remaining for MacDonald and Monken nailed on to return is about as good as we could have hoped for but the Seahawks are looking scary. If they were going to hire Quinn they'd probably have done it by now. (Jordan fucking Love fucking fucked us by making him look terrible.)

If the Seahawks are going to hire Mike (and I pray they don't) I wish they'd hurry up so we can hire Jesse Minter, John's other golden boy, before Jim H snags him.

I'm sure Jesse Minter is destined to be the Chargers DC.

If Macdonald leaves Weaver is the DC. I find it very unlikely both are gone. I don’t think the Seahawks have officially interviewed Macdonald have they? They’ve only been linked but no official interview was announced. Not sure if that means anything material.

Ben Johnson is going to be a big domino.

I don't think the Seahawks have interviewed Macdonald. I've heard the Seahawks could be late players to the Ben Johnson game as well but the key is for Ben Johnson to land in Washington. If Ben Johnson doesn't land in Washington, than Macdonald could go to the Commanders.
