The 2024 Offseason Thread

Gus has easily been 9ne of the most consistently good parts of our offense, and averages like 5 yards a touch. The only issue with Gus is OCs forgetting he exists in playoff games.
I don't get the hesitancy to re-sign Gus while wanting Henry.

The only FA back I'd want is Saquon (outside our own guys). Besides that perfectly fine with drafting one and an UDFA.

I’m at the opposite. I’m ready to move on from Gus. Gimme me a stud please

Is this just some bullshit social media post or is there any validity to it? Smells off to me.

If some of that was because he fumbled in the monsoon meaningless game against the Steelers then fire Harbaugh

yeah lost a step
still effective as a redzone finisher (as we saw) but also not an explosive tackle-breaker and consistent chunk getter between the tackles anymore
Yeah still some value but not a guy that (a) we should be paying a lot to and (b) guaranteeing a roster spot to. I have no problems seeing him back at the right price but he is not a solution at this stage of his career.

Common theme between EDC and Harbs is that the OL is likely to look very different

Stanley's here until after the draft regardless of if he plays for the ravens in 2024
They've already shown that Zeit's gone, Simpson's gone

at minimum we're filling 2 OG spots

but Moses is a potential cut option and I'd be somewhat surprised if we had both 2023 starting OTs starting in 2024

as EDC said, the only thing you can be sure of is that we're probably not going to draft a C high (watch us draft JPJ at the end of the 1st and plug him in at G lol)

You’re not paying him for what he’s done. You’re paying him for what he’ll do going forward. He wasn’t super effective last year and it’s only going to get worse.
He got 810 yards, 13tds, averaged 4.1 yard a carry in a year where out oline was the worse it's been in like the last four years. Also a 15 yard average for receptions, something he should get the opportunity to do more. His down year behind a group of backups is better than many starters with a proper offensive line.

Hell, if we actually used him in the playoffs we might have won the SB.

of course he'd be open to restructuring lol
restructuring just means he gets the money earlier
Right. But I guess what I’m getting at is has anyone actually reported on Jackson saying this or is it just some text on top of a picture?

I keep seeing that Moses might be cut and I really don't get it. He played well and isn't too expensive. It can't just be because he finished the year injured, can it?

Next gen stats are far less kind than that though. Toward the bottom in yards after contact. Very few explosive plays. A 0.0 rushing yards over expected, which means he rushed exactly for what was blocked for him. And it's only going to get worse.

Even the eye test should tell you he was ineffective last year. May have a decent stat line but there were so many times where he was stopped on initial contact that never would have happened 2 years ago. He's fading, and that's okay. It happens to everyone.

there's a reason our running game looked good with JK and then looked great with Keaton

and then just looked ok with Gus, and Justice looked like a better option at RB most of the time

are we really gonna be looking to keep someone who was basically 4th choice RB on the 2023 roster...

I think they'd love to keep him in an uncapped world, but there's a cap to contend with here and he's an obvious candidate with decent savings and nearing the end of his career. Chances are very high that he's not in a Ravens uniform in 2025. Maybe this years Calais - a guy you don't necessarily want to see go but he's the most feasible option for the long-term prospects of the team.

Yep. Respect the hell out of Gus and what he brought to the team in the past, but that's not what I'm paying him for. It's not even 100% a "we forgot about Gus and the running game" thing in the playoffs. There's some of that, but there's also tape that shows that he wasn't that good and that they did not see a ton of value in him down the stretch.

Rebuilding OLine is clearly priority #1 this offseason.
