I mean…. 20th/32 is pretty bad. Graded on a curve with the rest of the league that’s more like a C-.

Edit: 8 teams have a new HC this year. So taking those guys out only 4 coaches had lower grades than Harbaugh in a 13-4 1st seed season. Yes I know some of those coaches might have been higher than Harbaugh and left for other reasons. It’s still not a good look after how the season ended.
Right but that's the problem... it's not a curve. That's why doing the whole "lets rank them" game doesn't really work.

How the season ended is irrelevant in this case, mostly because the survey was completed before the season ended.

Andy Reid got an A+ along with Dan Campbell and Kevin O'Connell. 9 more got A (including Zac Taylor and Mike Tomlin) and 7 got A-.

2 time "coach of the year" Stefanski got B-
Agreed.
I've been offering up heaps of $ to people who can explain to me why they think player coaching valuations matter. In the context of "how successful is the team", its almost completely meaningless, and the "survey" involved basically a small group of questions that have very little to do with "how effective are you as a HC".

And yes, there's no curve or context. Basically the Ravens ranked "better" compared to their peers in various other categories, where they simultaneously got a lower grade.

It's basically asking hiw much of a 'player's coach' each one is so it's not a huge surprise Harbaugh was 20th, we all know that phony smile he does for the media doesn't tell the whole story.

Well we also know that you can be 20th in the league and your players apparently still think very highly of you, which would be reflected in the grade he got.
Hence why the "curve" doesn't work.

Like the emphasis on John's ranking speaks volumes about the intelligence of the fanbase. They looked at the report card and decided that the SECOND HIGHEST SCORE on the report card warranted the most criticism.

The combination of Food/Cafeteria and Nutrition grades, which is basically average, is abysmal in this climate. The fact that the Ravens still make small groups of young players share hotel rooms for away games is abysmal in this climate (not many teams in the league still do that, but the Ravens are one of them). The sheer lack of volume of training staff workers is abysmal in this climate.

But yeah, we should definitely focus on the B+ head coach. We should pretend like how we compare to our peers matter, and not the fact that if everybody else in the industry sucks also, it still means you suck. You just suck with everybody else that sucks.

John was right. "End of the Bar" is right.

I mean I get it. It's fodder for the people who don't like John to complain about it.
But as I've told my friends, its like the textbook example of why there's a "wage gap" in our Country. People look at a report like this, and they can't even complete simple, high-school-level analytics to figure out where the weak areas are and criticize those.

Instead, they look at a high grade for a HC and say "well a lot of his peers have higher grades". It's horrendous analysis.

and McCarthy got an A. That's enough to ignore the grades.

Random question, but as a whole, do you think people are trained to be critical thinkers?

Hell no, i fking wish! Even some of the smartest people in the world dnt have problem solving and critical thinking skills! Shit, its hard to find people with common sense nowadays, so just imagine the other two lol.

Deebo813

Hall of Famer
O fuck no. I think less than 5% of the population has any critical thinking skills at all. Like zero. If you lump in actual problem solving skills, its like 0.5% of the population has any ability to reasonably problem solve on their own in any capacity whatsoever.
Lmao!! Agreed

Based on the survey results I saw, I think its either rookies or some small group of players are required to share rooms. Pretty sure when they travel they block off most or all of the hotel.

The direct quote from the report summary is:
  • They are one of seven teams that require some of their players have roommates the night before a game

I wonder if its cause theyre cheap or of its to make sure some players dnt over sleep or go out the night before type of thing

This might be my first positive post since the loss. I don't think we've seen Lamar's best season and I still believe Madubuike is an ascending playing. When EDC has said he wants to improve a position he has. I know it's a big ask but all we need from this team is mental toughness.
