Joe Flacco

The thing that encourages me about a system of fundamentals is it will do 2 things for flacco:

1) it helps create a rhythm in his throwing
2) it stops him from getting into bad mechanical/footwork habits

And as we’ve all seen a flacco in rhythm is undeniably hard to play against

That being said I was really impressed by the way joes footwork improved toward the end of the year - I’d prefer a bit more bounce in the pocket but he used his feet in his throwing motion better than he has since 2014
Yeah. The second half was undeniably encouraging. He's got another few years left. But by god we need to get him a solid corps of weapons. I'm not even asking for a super elite one. Hell, if we just had a bunch of players who complimented each other well I'd be in favor of it.

2011 and 2012 had that. Boldin, big physical dude who would bruise WRs. Torrey's presence ensured that Boldin wouldn't get double covered because of his deep ball ability. Jacoby was inconsistent as a WR but he also kept the defense honest. Boldin, for MOST of his tenure in Baltimore was horribly misused and we didn't maximize him and mostly used him as a compliment. Add in Rice and Pitta who served as two damn good security blankets. The weapons were not elite... But they were plentiful and got the job done. That's why I'm not objected to bringing in Dez Bryant or whatever. We need multiple guys here. Multiple acquisitions. Undoubtedly the biggest need in the offseason.

Seriously, we upgrade the personel with the defensive talent on this team and we're a super bowl contender again.

Now.. I have my doubts about Ozzie after last offseason where he was unwilling to attack offensive issues head on in the draft or whatever. But I'd love for him to prove me wrong.

Overall though. Primary priority should be for us to get the dude weapons and upgrades on the line. I think Urban could be a guy who helps Flacco have a late career revival. If he plays like he did during the second half more consistently next season(notice how I said more consistently... He's not going to be consistent and that's honestly a given. We have a chance.

This is why I don’t think we need a top of the range free agent if they get too pricey - id personally love to get Taylor Gabriel here and maybe another #2/#3 receiver (maybe someone like donte moncrief) in free agency and look to the draft for a dynamic young option in the top 2 rounds

For me flacco when he’s playing well has never had a number 1 receiver properly and he’s still had great periods - that’s the biggest difference - then if we give him good options at receiver then this offence could make a massive jump

I always found it weird that he didn’t really have a qb coach this year and most of last year

We’ve got some good positional coaches in place now on the offensive side (the only one that worries me is bobby engram) - joe dallesandris did great work with a depleted unit this year, Greg Roman did an unbelievable job on the run game and in tight end blocking (hopefully we get a better receiving tight end in), Thomas hammock has done a consistently great job with the talent he’s had under his tutelage and James urban looks the real deal at qb coach

I really think urban will keep flacco from going sloppy. He really played well in the second half of the season if we can
Keep that I’d be satisfied. My only real issue with Flacco is I never have felt he cares. He treats football like it is just a game and I see how that is fair. He is like the honors student who runs track (has a ton of potential) but just does it to help get into college lol. I don’t think he will play more than 4 years to be honest. He seems like he has gotten enough from the game. I can’t be the only one who thinks this. I know he is referred to as joe cool, and I feel he might get a bit upset but knows after the game he will come home to a great life and go play again next season. Marlon humps tweeted how he likes the dog in mayfield, and I agree. I don’t like mayfield much, but no one will argue Flacco has more passion. I don’t think we will ever see flacco attempt to connect with a receiver not named pitta. Stories have come out that Brady tries to stay hip with his guys. I could never
Imagine Flacco hanging out with Perrimam. He
Does what he needs to but never anything more. I think that’s the only thing that will stop him from being elite. When he was challenged and mocked for saying he was he put down his full effort. I wish he had more love for the game and not as much to be a normal human haha.
Flacco is well known to be a locker room leader. He may not have that fiery leadership on the field that many want, but he’s still a leader and he does care about football. He’s just very even keel.

While I think Urban will definitely help Joe, it would seem most of the issues with his mechanics were injury/confidence related as he improved as he got healthier. And I think you’ve hit the nail on the head concerning rhythm. Flacco like most QBs thrive when things are clicking. Drops and poor receiver play killed a lot of the momentum and offensive rhythm this year, but implementing a “system” could go a long way in keeping a mechanical rhythm to his motion going despite such setbacks.

Pretty sure most QBs have a coach. Right?

Yes, most qbs have a qb coach, not someone who does both jobs like Mornhinweg. Although I have seen teams do it like that in the past. When Jay Gruden first came to The Skins, he was the coach, play caller and qb coach. Crazy. It wasn’t until the next year We he promoted McVay and hired a qb coach.

He’s motivational leader in the locker room
I just don't remember hearing a whole lot of that.
Kind of the opposite actually....not that he isn't well liked or respected...nothing like that.
I've heard it suggested he does only what's asked or required of him and nothing more.

If guys are motivated by that, I'd say that might explain the rather uninspired and uninspiring football we've watched of late.

Outside of random fans and posters I’ve never heard anyone suggest that at all - former players, the coaching staff and current players have all come out and said joes a leader when people outside the building question it - and we’ve seen it manifest itself outwardly a few times but there’s much more to leadership than being rowdy

But in any case I have a feeling that those suggestions you’ve been hearing might have been perpetrated by some unruly “fans” of the organisation

When you have players wearing shirts like these, one can safely say that he's well-respected in the locker room:

I'm not interested in him being, "rowdy".
I've heard his leadership and dedication to his craft questioned by none other than Ray Lewis.
He's in a position to know.
I've heard Cerratto repeatedly refer to him as 9 to 5 with no hesitation.
He's in a position to have heard.....from those who do know.
I know he has never organized an off campus "camp" even after promising such a gathering in 2014.
I've never heard of him organizing a film study off campus the way Ed Reed and Ray Lewis did routinely.
I know from people who have been On the sidelines and in the locker room for four and five years that he shows up when he feels like it On Monday to watch Sundays game tape when the coordinator is there at 8am...... "I'll be in in the afternoon...." Was his response when asked if he would be there to watch with them.

I know he pouted on national television when he was split out wide in 2013 with tyrod taking snaps....stood there with his arms at his side.

None of this matters if he plays well. None of it. If he's playing well guys will follow him.

If you're referring to Vinny Cerrato from the fan I think you should take his words with a grain of salt, he's definitely been wrong about something on more than one occasion. This is the same guy who thought Humphrey wasn't worth the 16th overall pick.

Yes. I understand we must consider the source. And that Cerratto is in some measure a disinterested cackler so it would pay to be dubious.

However, He's said it enough times without agenda....very matter of fact and always as something he has heard from people inside. There's enough smoke there for me to assume he isn't making anything up.
I believe he's heard these things from people he trusts to be speaking the truth. He's simply repeating what he's heard.

There’s too many that state the opposite is true so I would tend to believe them more so than a radio personality. And I noticed you mentioned Ray Lewis’ comments from 2016. I won’t say too much about that other than to suggest you do a search and read how ridiculous everyone thought those comments were and how many continued on to defend Joe. And if you haven’t seen it, also view Ray’s apology video he made in his car. Pretty weird.

Joe Flacco is somewhat of an enigma when it comes to being an NFL QB in that he is a humble family man that isn’t flashy or one that seeks publicity. I actually admire those qualities, but they do make him an easy target for his detractors. Those things don’t mean that he lacks passion or the desire to succeed. TBF he would have never made it to where he is now if he were not dedicated or a poor leader.

Everything you just said was 100% facts lol! Its too many flacco lovers here though!

Well if simply citing evidence and players who have stated things is being a Flacco lover... than doing the opposite must mean youre a Flacco hater.

And if you cant get past silly titles to try and discredit the opposite opinion - might as well give up now.

Vinny Cerrato (former skins GM) and Dan Snyder single handedly destroyed a franchise. Of course you can’t take Cerritos word for it. Lol
