Mock Central

Its weird. Matt Miller has Miller falling to the 4th round and Zerlein has a 4th round grade on him on NFL.com. Most have him as a second rounder except for those 2
I don't know what to make of Zerlein. There are so many times I see something so thoroughly opposite.

He has the occasional brain fart and his write ups are sometimes questionable but when he talks about prospects on tv he’s great and when he backs up his analysis with real sources from around the league he’s great too

I think he’s good but he evidently doesn’t care about the hundreds of mini write ups he has to do for nfl.com

At "brain fart" you got me

I must say I really like the short videos he posts on Twitter where he analyzes some plays. Very informative.

Any truth to Eric DeCosta running the draft the past few years or was that a nonsense report?
I don't know. Nobody knows. Anyone who says he does is 100% full of shit. That's all I can tell you.

But it'd be very strange if he did because otherwise it wouldn't have made any sense to change seats with Oz only now. The one who makes the decisions is the GM. That's what he's paid for. If DeCosta did it, what was Ozzie there for? Scouting? Might as well let DeCosta take the helm right now.

So, no. I don't believe any of those reports.

i mean tbf you're completely dismissing free agency and pro-scouting... there's never been a semblance of an idea that decosta was running that side of thing (which as much fun and as important as the draft is the pro-scouting and roster management side is probably more important)

so it wouldnt be as strange as you are saying it would be for eric to be running the draft room and the draft board and still have ozzie be the gm because there's no indication that eric actually manages the roster that way... add to that the fact that bisciotti referred to eric as the head of the scouts (normally a gm's role) and im not saying he has 100% been running the draft but i dont see why anyone who would think he has been would be 100% full of shit...

Truth be told only player this draft I'll be absolutely fuming over if we draft at all is Bo. Especially given the depth in this class. This class is lacking in top end talent but there's depth at most positions. WR and DL are easily the weakest though.

I mean. I'd hold the same exact opinion was I did with Humphrey and Mosley(I knew based off of tape that both were good players, but was angry that us taking them meant that we were neglecting offense)if we took an Evans(who is probably going to be our pick much to my dismay as ILB is a need(one that we would honestly be fine if we didn't address. Just rotate Bowser into ILB on coverage plays and pick up a cheap run thumper FFS)), Roquan Smith(whom I'd like but I think Evans is a better fit here personally), Derwin James(who would make me the most angry of all of these options. He's a quality player but he wouldn't be an immediate starter. We need an immediate contributor with the first pick), Joshua Jackson(actually I'd be thrilled if he was the pick. I like him), etc. There isn't a defensive prospect I've scouted yet (other than Key) that makes me want to bang my head against the wall..

Again, I'll be thouroughly dissapointed if we don't take offense with each of our first four picks. But there's some solid defensive talent here..

That doesn't mean Ozzie should do it. By all means if Evans is the BPA then trade back and take Billy Price in the 20s.

So you would be angry if we drafted Derwin James, a top 10 player imo, because he wouldn’t be a starter...but you’d like it if we picked Jackson...who also wouldn’t be a starter? I’m seeing some inconsistencies here.

And I don’t give a rat’s ass if James wouldn’t start this year, he will be a hell of a player and we would absolutely be able to find a way to get him in the game. I get wanting an offensive player, but it’s dumb to not want a player of James’ caliber.

You’re also far overselling the idea that we are absolutely 100% taking Evans with our 1st pick.

Take a chill pill.

Given Jimmy’s injury Jackson WOULD be a Day one starter and also a necessary piece. It could allow Jimmy more than enough time to recover. I still have us cutting Brandon Carr. Jackson-Humphrey-Young would be an elite corner trio moving forward.... too bad it’s not going to happen lol. Then we could MoVe JimMy tO StRoNg SaFTEy or somethingZ

I’d be dissapointed with James or Evans but ultimately they’d be good in the long run. I want us to go offense. James Moreso because we
need an immediate impact. Evans would be a Day one starter.

Only pick in the draft that would truly infuriate me is Bo. It’s not the Alabama I hate(I liked Harris as a prospect and am kind of dissapointed he went back to school. I also like Bozeman, I think Payne and Evans are good prospects, etc) it’s the player. Super overrated and not the player we need

Draftwire latest mock:
Ridley
Goedert
Ragnow

That's like a complete dream.
draft over now we can sleep well

That's not what I said. What I said is there are people out there saying it's absolutely DeCosta's pick. Talking like they know. They don't. People who say they know what happens in the FO are 100% shit.

Now you can make hypothesis of course, who wouldn't? My point is, all we say is hypothetical. For all we know, Eric might be making all the picks, some picks or absolutely none. All one (media and fans) can do is speculate.
