Training Camp

wasnt flacco's injury during his own offseason workouts away from the team though?

pretty sure they are given home workout regimes by the team.

when SSR says it's the toughest camp he\s ever endured and the toughest conditioning test that is ALL harbaugh

if this were a big market team like the steelers, NE or dallas this amount of injuries would be making news.

no in the dead period it's time off but they are expected to come back in top shape which is why the conditioning test happens - most of the vets will have their own workout regimen

I'm not sure there's much blame to throw around for injuries. The first actual padded practice was yesterday and it sounds like the majority of injuries to this point have been non-contact freak injuries (Young, Gillmore, Dixon) and that's usually what happens when people tear knee ligaments. Its usually more a result of a bad step or landing wrong than a result of a hard hit or something like that. Theres not really any kind of training or conditioning to lessen the risk of a torn ligament.

I'm not too sure about what happened to Canady. All I've seen is the Ravens saying he had an undisclosed injury. None of the reporters saw him go down in practice or anything, but Zrebiec seems to think it might be a serious knee injury- which is concerning because Zrebiec has been a solid reporter as long as I've followed him, so he definitely could know something we don't.

its not that these arent freak injuries but something has to be going on at this point we cant be getting this unlucky with "freak" injuries 3-4 years in a row - maybe something in the training regimen is leaving the players more susceptible to these injuries - but the trend suggests that something is going wrong because the law of averages should have balanced out and we should be hearing about the cowboys/patriots or literally any team other than us and the chargers having these injuries - but for yet another season it's the chargers and us having injury problems

I believe that is what is being reported. I heard that he had lifted weights back in New Jersey and strained his back. My main concern is all the major knee injures and some achillies injuries. We have more guys blow out their knees in our practice sessions than any other NFL team. After 3 years of this, it can't be a coincidence.

Only true huge loss here in my eyes is Tavon Young. Flacco's injury was at home and since that's him training on his own time/doesn't seem all that serious I'm not worried. Dixon is a really talented running back but at the end of the day, unless you have an Adrian Peterson type at running back you're not screwed. Canady's doesn't sound too serious tbh. We would have heard more about it at this point if it was. Could miss a few weeks, could miss the year. We should wait till the report. And we all know Crockett is a ticking time bomb anyway.

I do agree some of the blame is going to Harbaugh(by next season it won't matter. The likelihood that he's gone along with Ozzie is pretty high imo), but some of these were just legit freak injuries.

There's about 0% chance Ozzie is gone unless he retires.

Bummer Joe won't be practicing today at M and T. Really wanted to see him throwing to Maclin and Perriman.

IF we fail again this year I want harbaugh out. Keep Ozzie. Harbaugh might not be the right kind of coach for this team anymore. Also, if we end up with a top 10 pick, we should go for a QB. Time to move on from the flacco era as well.

It's still nowhere near how teams had to practice in the 70s 80s 90s even up to the current Cba teams would have a lot of two adays and much more tackling. Many coaches had two a days every day. These practices are whimphy compared to those,

Honestly, I have no idea.
It was. Said while he was lifting weights. That could mean a multitude of things, but most likely poor form. So either he should hire a personal trainer, or fire the one he's currently got. He could have also lifted heavier than he could've handled(he's not an olineman who trains for strength so it wouldn't surprise me)

Looks like we signed TE Larry Donnell. Doesn't look good for Gilmore. Waived WR Tim Patrick to make room.
