If the speculation by Brian McFarland is true, then the guaranteed money (signing bonus 10m and 1st and 2nd yr guaranteed salaries) is how they are saying he has 14.5 m in guarantees. It's basically a cheap two yr deal and will never see high cap numbers in yr 3 and 4

I know youre not arguing. I'm hoping he can continue to get better as he has more playing time. He was stuck behind Josh Doctson Garcon Jackson and Crowder in Washington. Had a hard time getting on the field, but he was the only receiver washington had that could line up at all receiver spots this yr.

I hope you're right because I saw this deal and wanted to puke lol

And I also hope he produces with more playing time. It shouldn't be that hard for him to be better than what we put on the field last year, but I'm hoping he shows more than just a minor upgrade.

You never can look at the entire deal and make that assumption. Need to see the specifics first. At this point it's just speculation from Brian McFarland. We should know soon enough.

yeah brian mcfarland was speculating but given the numbers we know it makes a lot of sense

29 mill with 14.5 mill guaranteed probably means something like this: that likely means 10 million signing bonus with the other 4.5 million covering the first 2 years' base salaries (the 2nd one likely only being guaranteed through injury)

that would mean his signing bonus cap hit each year is 2.5 mill and his base salary would be 1 mill in year 1, 3.5 mill in year 2 - which would make his cap hits look like this:

year 1: 3.5m
year 2: 6m
year 3: 10m
year 4: 9.5m

importantly though we could cut him in year 3 and save 5m or cut him in year 4 and save 7m

Sounds like a 2 year deal to me

The more I learn about Ryan Grant the more okay this is. His career numbers aren't great, but they clearly show improvement and him being described as a hard worker only helps that narrative.
Of the near 1000yards he has in his career, 550+ of those came last year. As the number 4 receiver this is very acceptable.

For a team with a cap space as low as the Ravens, banking on WR like that to flourish when given the opportunity looks like the right move.

I mean, we just got two WR that can separate and catch the football. Isn't that what everyone wanted?

You get a Wr in round 1-2 and a pass catching TE and that's already a big boost compared to last year.

Free agency isn’t over yet, neither are potential trades. I’d like us to go trade Allen Hurns while we’re sfrspping the bottom of this barrel. The problem is we just promised the fan base a splash and most people don’t even know who Grant is and most people know Brown but realize he’s got injury issues as long as my arm. They did this to themselves honestly and probably it’s because of Flacco. Maybe nobody wanted to come here to play because of him. I’m hoping we do target Baker Mayfield in the Draft because maybe he’ll help us win. Worst case he sits and maybe pushes Joe to someho play better and we can through some miracle trade Joe to some other team. That would be the best possible scenario for us. Then draft DJ Moore and another WR and get a TE

Long time no see,

Can't express vehemently enough how badly I wanted to make a change at QB a couple years ago. (Before the extension). Really thought the trade window was there, even after the extension. But I was prepared to lose badly to make it happen. The powers that be were not.

Now they are very committed to "staying the course". Whatever is the "last straw" to break Bisciotti's back, we haven't seen it yet. That back is way swayback now though.

As far as Allen Hurns goes...and his anticipated rapport with Flacco...all I can say is :+1: That said, didn't he sign with the Jags last year and they sent their number 1 packing.

as was the problem when you last suggested this but getting rid of flacco this year actively makes us worse off in cap space not better - we have at least 1 more year of flacco and more likely 2 more years of flacco

At work today I was thinking. How long is it gonna take the homers to talk himself into liking these these loser signings and pump them up like difference makers. It’s how homers think. Will pump up ANY addition to the team eventually and settle for anything lol

Ravens have massive holes at WR and TE. Yet the ravens fill that hole by signing the REDSKINS NO.4 Receiver!! That is how management fixes it’s wide receiver problem?? Redskins are somewhat WR needy to. Cousins was praised for putting up big numbers with average receivers. Yet he couldn’t do any better than NO.4 on the depth chart. That is a joke!! Only ravens fans are so pathetically desperate to get excited over signing the Washington Redskins NO.4. We laughed at the ravens at work today. And I told everybody ravens homers are so desperate or receiver. And will begin getting psyched up about these loser signings. My boss laughed and said nobody was gonna try pumping up these signings. Ravens incompetence scouting receivers is as bad at picking nfl receivers as it is at college!! Of all the young skilled breakout candidates out there in free agency. Who says Ryan Grant, He is the one with skills to break out??!! With Marqise Lee Brice Butler and Paul Richardson. Once again everything the ravens do is the right move. And the best move possible lol

I know which team i'd join if i were jordy...

Enough with the declining cap cuts. He is a shell of Jordy Nelson. Rodgers would never part with him unless his skills have severely eroded. Next yr he is gonna be a year older. This is ludicrous

At quick twitch llc you thought of this?

Tell me though, what raven runs better routes or catches the ball better than either of these 2?

The redskins NO.4?? About even with Wallace and Moore. Maybe a very slight upgrade. But the offense is gonna continue to be a a total joke that can’t fill the stadium

the Skins no. 4 runs better routes than all the receivers on that team and has glue for hands.

That no. 4 receiver had 45 receptions for 573 yards.
