Fuck it, I LIKE THESE MOVES AND I AM IN SUPPORT OF WHAT WE'VE DONE SO FAR. I think there is a great opportunity for us to add one more WR via trade or FA and get a WR in the draft like Moore or Miller.

I meant the WR's before I get destroyed for Hurst and Urban portion.

I mean, we just got two WR that can separate and catch the football. Isn't that what everyone wanted?

You get a Wr in round 1-2 and a pass catching TE and that's already a big boost compared to last year.
There’s not one deal in the FA market that the big names signed that I would have matched. What we did is better then sitting on the roster we had prior to the FA period. I’m optimistic on Grant but Brown can be a huge addition if he manages to stay healthy. I’m sure shaky on it since he has health issues but Iv lightened up on it given the fact that I did not expect the FA WR market to blow up like this.
Couldn’t have said it better

I like Urban Ana Hurst moves also. Hursts contract is cheap in the initial yrs of the contract. He’s paid to be a backup, not to start and he knows romans system. I’d be upset if he was signed to start, especially at RT, but I’m confident we will upgrade the OL

I don’t think he’s gonna be a back up. I think he’s going to be our starter going forward Iv changed my mind on it since we did not have any other option. Better then letting him walk and having another hole on the OL. Plus he’s cheap, this deal won’t hurt our cap at all.

Oh I like them too, I just rather stick to the WR's than debate the other two.

I actually feel in the first or 2nd we will be able to draft someone to start. Alex Lewis would start over him at guard.

Not saying Hurst contract is a big deal but with that money I just don’t see how he’s a back up. I think the team feels comfortable with him at the G spot and would prefer to keep him there, I think his flexibility at tackle is a bonus but not a place you want him at full time at all. I think Lewis is probably going to swing over to the tackle spot.

I have this feeling after passing on Diggs, we're going to be kicking ourselves in 3-4 years if we pass on Moore. I don't watch tape like a lot of you all, but Moore really reminds me of Doug Baldwin only more athletically gifted.

I don't know why they even bothered with Lewis at guard in the first place. He played tackle all his life.

The contract is priced like a good backup. It’s also a 1m Salary in 2018.

And Ridley reminds me of Diggs lol. Only a bit better of route runner

It's $1 million in base in 2018, with a cap hit of $2,250,000. His cap hit jumps to $4,750,000 in the following season and to $5,520,000 in the years after. He wouldn't be ideal to release until his final year of the contract given that we'd save either half or less of those amounts throughout in three of his first four seaosns. Spotrac currently lists him as a tackle, although that's certainly up in the air. If that stands, however, average wise, he's right behind Demar Dotson as the 17th highest paid RT. That's low-end starter money scale wise.

He's a 3 on a team that doesn't have a 1, 2, or 3. Meaning we now have a 3. Brown is an excellent 2 when healthy. So we now lack a 1 and depth.

Feels like a big step in the right direction for a team who has been disgustingly cursed by dropped balls and overall bad wr play for nearly 2 decades now

Exactly - I’m not sure that just 1 more receiver will do but it’s a start...

My hope is that we intend to get aggressive and pick up a couple of receivers early who we think can immediately impact - I’m fine with the team not having a number 1 receiver as long as we have a few 2s and 3s in stead

I think Ryan grant is a 2/3 depending on how we figure to use him (I imagine we are hoping he becomes an Emanuel sanders/golden Tate/Cole Beasley/Jamison crowder - where the slot guy becomes the 2nd receiver)

And John Brown is very much a 2/3 depending on his availability through the year

But if we were to add a couple of rookies who have the potential to contribute early like Anthony miller or Dj Moore or Calvin Ridley or Christian Kirk suddenly this unit is transformed

But more importantly we aren’t completely reliant on outside receivers running go routes or ineffective comebacks - we’ll have varied route running and skill sets which I don’t remember this offence having since before kubiak

That’s all true but honestly this is more like a 2 year contract - after the 2nd year he can be cut for 2.5m cap savings - technically we can even cut him after 1 year (if he doesn’t get injured) - i think he’s getting paid to be the leader in the clubhouse (pre-draft) at the left guard spot but has nothing guaranteed by the contract

Can be, yes, but it's never ideal when you're eating at least half of the cap hit for three of the four seasons. Not when you're consistently near the cap. That even more so applies to his second season considering that we'd lose 79% of the savings to dead cap. Could you? Certainly. But why would you for the minimal savings, even if he drastically underperforms. It obviously won't sink us on its own, but it's not the friendliest structure.

I guess the reason I’m not worried is that it inflated with the cap and we are due to be less tight against the cap potentially in the next couple of years - the add to that the next CBA and I’m not worried about backloading any deal that’s longer than 3 years
