I feel like if we were going to give Snead an offer we would have done so already.

I think it made sense to wait to formulate our offer to Snead until the Bears made up their minds about matching the Saint’s offer for Meredith. Now that the Bears declined to match the offer for Meredith it makes it easier for the Ravens to acquire Snead if they want to do so.

Ravens have leverage now, though - over Snead and the Saints. They can come in with a lower offer on Snead most likely, if there aren't other suitors of course. The Saints were already tight against the cap and are even tighter now with Cam in the fold.

The real questions at this point are (1) are the Ravens really interested in signing Snead and (2) is Snead comfortable not signing an offer and staying on the tender and entering the UFA market next year?

I wouldn't say 0 reasons. Collins is a one hit wonder and we have seen players like Forsett come in for a year and sparkle and then the magic is gone. Dixon I like his upside but he has to get on the field. Allen is solid in a number of ways but he doesn't have that 2nd speed or that next level. He will likely be a backup the rest of his career in my opinion.

Nobody thought this team would get a running back last year then we signed Collins and he worked his way up. Things happen but competition is good because each year is different.

This offense is almost 100% based off of potential which scares me because the talent on this offense could have us as a top 10 offense next season (which I don't think will happen as of now) but also can be just as terrible as last year. Tight end is a bigger need but I think if you get a veteran who is young enough and has consistent production that I could see them signing a guy or drafting a running back that falls in the 2nd.
Forsett came in under Gary Kubiak after playimg for him for years. When he left, he wasn’t the same under Trestmans offense. Collins succeeded in Romans system last year and could get better as well. I agree, I also like Dixon’s upside and he has tremendous tackle breaking ability. Allen at best has one more yr remaining on his contract as he will be a free agent at the end of next season. I’d like to draft a running back in this class, but more than likely in the middle rounds.

Forsett did not play for years under kubiak.

It was only 1 season and he barely played at all.......

As we sit now RB is like 7th or 8th on the list of needs/wants. Sure there’s some great guys available, but there’s immediate priorities that are much higher.

Forsett was in Houston with Kubiak, although I thought it was a few seasons and he was only in Houston with Kubiak for one season,

forsett was a kubiak product and most people who know football knew it, he was far too weak to break tackles, average at best elusiveness, but superb vision and patience, which is literally all you need to be carried by kibiaks blocking scheme.

Collins on the other hand has a lot of excellent numbers that back up any notion that he's a far better independent talent than forsett. Yards after contact is probably the most concrete stat in football to prove a players individual worth independent from things like blocking and system. He has numberd and film to back it up, the big or decent runs he produced from plays that would've been a disaster with most RBs, like the TD run vs the bengals, or the 4th down pitch play vs the steelers where a corner forced the run inside and tj watt pinched the gap, most RBs get caught in the bunch there but Collins got skinny and hit the gas to break a nice one. He did this time and time again.

Alex Collins, independently, had one of the best seasons at rb last year, looking at film and numbers like YPC and avg yards after contact tell the story, he's a talent all on his own and shouldn't be written off as a one year wonder, I can guarantee that defenses wont be writing him off.

For what it's worth, Collins was one of my favorite sleepers in his draft class. I'm not shocked by his performance and therefore personally see him less of a potential one-year wonder than the surface-level observation indicates.

He did have a hell of a running style in college but he needed to slim down, I liked him as well I just wasn't sold on him.

I will admit though, I was surprised at just HOW good he was

His size in college wasn’t the problem. It was before his rookie season that he bulked up and gained 15 pounds. Before last season he decided to go back to his original weight and it paid dividends.

And like I said my entire premise wasn't to discredit Collins. It is more that there is other players on the roster that have shown you cannot trust them thus far. I don't like putting my chips all in on one player at the position. If a running back is in the 2nd that the team thinks is a game changer I say draft them. I get it isn't the biggest need, but depth is needed. With this team's history one of those 3 guys will likely get injured this season for an extended time. This team valued running back so much they kept 4 on the roster last season. In my opinion it wouldn't be a terrible move.
