Ravens Trade News: Marcus Peters, etc...

I can get behind this trade but Peters has issues with the deep ball. Still, he’s way better than anything we had. I hope we get ourselves a pass rusher

the more i think about this the more i like it - marcus peters gets to come here and play his natural game but also doesnt have to be that number 1 corner - we can either go back to having LCB and RCB on the outside like we do with other outside corners or we have marlon and peters trail specific receivers around the field on a matchup basis

but if marlon is shutting down number 1 receivers that means peters is getting somebody else and that could be a mismatch with earl thomas on the back end
he's been the RCB in LA so he will probably stay their here.

now can we send the falcons a bag of chips for deion jones?

we might be able to get away with this anemic pass rush if we got him.

Well it's not Jalen Ramsey or Patrick Peterson but it's certainly better than nothing at this point. We gotta remember there is a reason they are trading someone like Peters for next to nothing. Apparently he has been giving up big TDs this year, but still is an INT machine and should help us regardless, as banged up as our secondary is.

Once Jimmy Smith gets healthy we could have a pretty solid secondary which should definitely help our pass rush as well. Marlon, Jimmy, Marcus with Carr and Canaday. It's an improvement. Way to go Eric Decosta, a really good compromise trade.

What happens when Jimmy gets back? How do we play this? I hope this isn't an indicator that jiimmy is miles away from recovering?

The answer is simple Batman....we move Jimmy to SAFETY

a big reason they are trading him is due to his contract being done at the end of the year. He does get burnt but he also makes a ton of big plays.

charles Woodson never played safety either. It’s not uncommon for corners to switch to safety later in their careers.

please do not compare jimmy smith to ANY woodson

Rod or Charles..

the football IQ and ability is not in the same stratosphere.

@JAAM thoughts. I know you wanted Ramsey, but that wasn't realistic. This is a steal

@Sami84 can't say Eric isn't aggressive.
Not gonna lie. I really like this trade even though I’m a UCLA guy and liked KY. We got a play maker at Corner

I said safety for the sake of conversation.

I think either Jimmy will be out longer or they have some plans to move some of our CB's around the defense.

They use him a little like that use Humphrey in his rookie as kind of a guy that spells the other CBs.

Jonas Shaffer on twitter: Since 2015, Brandon Carr, Marlon Humphrey, Tony Jefferson, Patrick Onwuasor, Anthony Levine Sr., Maurice Canady, Chuck Clark, Anthony Averett and DeShon Elliott have *combined* for 22 interceptions. Also since 2015, Marcus Peters has 24. (Earl Thomas has 13. Of course he does.)

There’s no comparison, it’s just not uncommon. Over the years a ton of corners have made the move to safety. Plus there are so many moving parts in this defense that it wouldn’t shock me to give him looks there in certain packages.
