The Bad, The Ugly, and the Pathetic

Are you serious right now? You don't have to judge the level of competition to see the massive improvements Lamar has made. Look at his mechanics, the arc of his throws, the efficiency, the improved accuracy. You don't have to look at the level of competition to see that he's gotten better. That's what I've seen from the offense. Not only are we better throwing the Football, we're still great at running the Football. The offense is fine, we'll make throws, we're going to outrun every team, and we're going to put up points. The two INT's I'm not upset about, game was over on the 2nd pick and the first pick was a desperation heave that you had to take a chance on. I'm totally excited about Lamar and this offense if you ask me.

On the other end, defense is flat out trash. OLB's keep crashing way too early, can't seal the edge and DL is leaving too many gaps open with the absence of BWILL. There is leaky coverage in the middle of the Field and we have no ILB who can read plays. I'm much more concerned about that unit right.

What? You're changing the argument. And him being better than last year doesn't mean he doesn't need to be better. Not blaming him for everything today, but he's a part of it along with coaching. And the OL isn't fine. You will realize this as the season plays out in games where we have to pass.

Yes, the defense sucked.

"Overhyped stat padding", you guys are so desperate to ignore the obvious improvements Lamar has made.
I must have said ten times in ten separate posts here...yes Lamar has improved from last year, shouldn't he? Isn't that expected from a QB of his hype in year 2 with a full off-season, offense tailored specifically for him and with added talent all around ?

Mediocre padded stats yes. Did he really need to continue chucking TDs against the dolphins who clearly couldn't score against our defense? We could have benched Lamar with the huge lead at half time but instead he dropped meaningless stats in a game that was over at halftime.

Last week his only TD and a large chunk of his passing stats came after the game was out of reach.

And this week a meaningless wide open 50 yard TD kept Lamar from looking like trash in a loss 198yds 2TD 2INt.

I"'ll give credit where its due like I have stating that yes Lamar is improving as he should given all we invested in offense this year. But still the stats look very similar to that playoff game last year where Lamar flatout couldn't throw. And there were times this year including against Arizona where it looks like Lamar can't and won't win by throwing the ball. Outside of the miraculous Hollywood 40 yarder to end the game in that one Lamar was staring at several bad drives, missed throws over throws bad on his part and a statline of right near 200 yards and 2 TDs in a game where the offense struggled outside of late game desperation from Lamar. The hook up with Hollywood was nice but that was a game on the line desperation throw because of the struggles on offense throughout the game paired with a defense that nearly allowed a comeback from a rookie.

Sorry but we put up points in Kc game when it was basically over. Scored a td today when game was basically over.outside of dolphins, our offense havent looked as good.
There is no argument for saying that we put up points when it was over considering that could have been in position to win the game. If the Chiefs don't convert on that screen pass we have a chance to go down the field and win. Also ask your self what if we converted at least of those two point tries? At least in that scenario a FG would send it to overtime.

this is ridiculous to state, because he could have had extra yards if numerous passes weren't dropped. He also could have had an additional quarter of stats in the Dolphins game. Sure we could have sat him at halftime, but how often do you see that done around the league. When was the last time you saw Tom Brady sit in a game. They could sit him on numberous occasions. Lamar was still trying to bring us back from the dead and be a little more respectable and came close to a very long td to andrews that should have been DPI.

Yes, he through two interceptions today, but they were the only two he has thrown since November last season (regular season).

I know you've mentioned that he has improved, but you can't take out "meaningless" stats. Might as well sit him when the game is out of reach because those stats won't count anyways. Doesn't matter that he is still trying to bring the team back.

Look, let's be honest here, no one expected this much of a jump from him. And while he's made some poor throws and read(Only really means that he's human), he's made great throws and great reads against zone coverages. He's learned how to read coverages and make the right throws. On some instances I would like to see more accurate passes, but I'm highly encouraged at him reading zone coverages and understanding where to find the soft spots in coverage, he did it plenty of times against KC and Arizona and that's one aspect in his game that he's significantly improved on. You cannot dismiss this with your stat padding argument. I don't care much for the stats as I do with the improvements he's made in his game. You should focus more on that then the numbers in itself. You say you've given him his credit plenty of times, but it seems like you're argument is trying to dismiss it here.

If improvements are expected from a QB, then what's going on with the QBs in Lamar's class? Rosen? Baker? Allen? I mean speaking of Baker he's regressed so far. You can say it's expected but how often does it happen? It's not easy playing QB in this league.

And what are people talking about when they say that the game was out of reach against KC? If KC doesn't convert that screen pass we legit have a chance at driving down the field to win the game.

Garbage time stats are garbage stats period. Would be different if the games were closer but they were not. Mahomes was laxed and all smiles on the sidelines during Lamar's final drives of that game, Mahomes knew the game was over and so did most everyone. Clearly wasn't enough time for a comeback even prior to Lamars final drives. Of course you never give up but still the game was over and Lamar was fortunate to get some extra stats and more importantly practice reps.

Also you are right think about all the missed yards and TDs Lamar has missed due to overthrowing, underthrowing, inaccurate throws. There have been quite a few of them. Of course i would love to see him be more accurate and receivers get open and not drop passes and not fumble and better pass protection but you cant be perfect. This is what needs to happen for him to better starting with him and he will be the first to admit that.

When is the last time Tom Brady has sat? quite a few times over the past several seasons leading to guys like Jimmy G, and Jacoby Brissett getting opportunities to showcase their talent ultimately leading to both being traded, so smart move by Pats I guess thats why they are the best.

He has completed 65% of his passes this season. What more can you ask for. Incompletions are part of the game and he has been extremely careful with the football as well. As @D1City55 said, you claimed to have recognized his improvements from last year to this year, but you throw him under the bus at every occasion. Focus on his improvements rather than the stats and be happy we have a young QB that wants to work and improve, because many QB's don't put in the necessary work.

That game was over bro! 30-13 to start the 4th quarter! Are you serious? The final drive of the game got us to 28-33 with 2mins left giving the ball back best theQB and offense in the NFL.

Patrick Mahomes was seen smiling laughing and soaking up the win. They Got the ball back and did what we all knew was coming.

The final drive was 28-33 but if we had converted the 2 point try its a 30-33 game. Also, if the game was over, KC isn't calling for a screen pass to ice the game. We had a realistic chance to take the game to OT if we convert the two on our final scoring drive.

exactly. How short some memories are around here.

last I checked, the game is 60 minutes. Has Goodell changed the gametiime to 45 minutes. I haven't heard that one yet. Hey even if it was 58 minutes, Pees may still have a job, because we wouldn't have lost so many games in the final two minutes.

Focus on his improvements i would like to if we were 4-0 but we are not. Defense has been worse but Lamar has had plenty of opportunities including today to put up points but he fails and are we supposed to treat him better than Flacco? Flacco used to get steam rolled for so many years with far less talent than lamar has had on offense. Lamar has gotten more talent the past 2 seasons then Flacco got his entire career. Same excuses for Flacco too "lack of talent", "drops", defense can't get off the field, bad OC, offensive system. Etc etc.

Bottom line is although Lamar has improved what do we have to show for it? We beat 2 rebuilding teams that won't make the playoffs and lost to 2 playoff caliber teams.

Lamar has played poorly, mediocre. Make excuses all you like but unless Lamar shows out against the Seahawks, Pats, Rams or Browns and proves himself that even with good D bad D, drops do happen, remember Lee Evans?! there are savage pass rushers out there...until Lamar proves he can lead this offense to meaningful wins this year then what good are his minor improvements.

what talent did Jackson have last year that Flacco did not. Flacco is doing worse in Denver than he did here and although I'm a Flacco fan, he was on the downside of his career and the past few years due to injuries and not giving him enough talent he wasn't doing as well. Lamar Jackson is making the offensive line look better than it is due to the scheme that Roman has put in place. How many young QB's win this many games and yes I know it's not just Lamar.

Your comment is that you could focus on his improvements if we were 4-0 is ridiculous. Does that mean you can't focus on his improvements if we lose games. Get used to it, we are going to lose games. Everyone loses games. BTW, how many teams are 4-0??????? Brady certainly wasn't 4-0 in his first full season as a starter. As a matter of fact, the Pats didn't make the playoffs that season. Guess they should have cut him at that point

This is a team game, don't put this loss on Lamar Jackson. He should not . be blamed on this loss AT all.

Enough nonsense.

I can’t believe how much focus everyone is on Lamar. Lamar didn’t give up 1100 yards the past two games. People are not watching the game it feels like Lamar is the only thing keeping the Ravens in games. Our long drives only happened because of huge runs from him.

The offense is young and it is to be expected that there is growing pains. His favorite weapon is also only in his second season and his starting wide receivers are rookies and yet coming into the game the Ravens were #1 in the league on offense and they still put up good yards.

The defense looked fine with Jimmy Smith and Brandon Williams healthy. Problem is neither of them can stay healthy. The past 5 years without Williams in games we get ran over like today. The past 5 years without Jimmy Smith we go from a top flight secondary to bottom 3 in the league. I’m sorry Humphrey played exceptional but Carr, Averett, and Canaday are not playing well.

Last year was an offense heavy draft. Next season will be a defensive heavy draft. Wink cannot get a pass rush when we send 6 or 7 and it is awful. The defense looks lost. The bye week cannot come soon enough. Hopefully Ravens can go 2-1 the next 3 weeks into the bye. They always play terrible this time of the year and usually look better post bye.

I damn near put this one purely on the defense to be perfectly honest with you. I thought it was bad in person, but it was worse on TV. I lost count of the amount of big plays I witnessed and they didn't give the offense a chance. I wish Mark Ingram didn't fumble because that hurt BAD, but they weren't close to as bad as the defense was. That was a historically bad game speaking from the defenses perspective. Lamar kept this from being a complete embarrassment. We could have been the Week 1 Miami Dolphins if not for him.

Lamar has his haters amongst this fan base and it's pretty sad. To be honest I haven't been around this board for a while but the things I'm reading today really has me astounded.
there definitely are a few. It's much better than social media and there are a bunch of really good contributors.

Imagine what Christian Schwarz thinks about Josh Allen. Another QB that has been improving, but through 3 interceptions today.

I'm going to enjoy watching Lamar Jackson grow as a player and a QB in this offense and am ecstatic that he is our QB as ALL Ravens fans should be excited, even in a down day he showed some resilience with the pocket falling around him all day. Mistakes are going to happen and if fans can't accept that, then maybe they should stop watching sports, because perfection is not and will not ever happen.

I mean, something has to be done about this defense if we want to contend, right? I know EDC isn’t stupid. Come on Ravens, make a move
