Coaching Carousel 2026

Well, it's only shit because there isn't an obvious candidate but that doesn't make it bad. I suspect if Webb had a year of OC experience, you'd feel a lot better about him. Same with Kubiak, who if he had some consistent success it would be a better endorsement. And McDaniel, who just got fired for not succeeding despite being an offensive genius (like Webb but McDaniel had more success). Then you have Minter, whose team got beat by that awful Texans Offense and a broken CJ Stroud.

But sometimes waiting has its issues. Sometimes you have to take a risk and gamble and it works out. McVay was young when he became HC, although he had at least 2 years experience as OC and a lot of history at the same org for years before that. Macdonald is similar, only 2 years before he exploded.

I think we can get a great coach here. Steve is a personnel guy and he is picking the coach at the end of the day, even if he says he wants Eric to do it.
Kubiak co-ordinated the offense second in scoring in the NFL this season. With Sam Darnold as his QB. That's quite a success. He's also bringing some good coaches with him. I'd be quite comfortable if he was the choice.

We're not that lucky, though. I have a feeling we'll end up disappointed.

I’ll even caveat with Webb that it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t get a 2nd interview if they decide he’s not ready. They really like him but doesn’t mean they’re viewing him as a fit.

I do expect Minter and Kubiak though barring anything unforeseen
Any idea if Webb might have to take a promotion to OC this year and if the ravens would consider that?

Yeah, with Buffalo in the mix, if you have a guy you like, you will have to pounce quickly. Weaver is also interviewing with PIT, too.

He speaks very well. Seems like he would be a good HC. I just think he is missing something here. I think he would do well on a team like the Bills.
why do you think he's missing something here.

If Buff gets McDaniel or Kubiak because we too slow…

Maybe it’s ill founded but this would feel like Orr 2.0, only HC version. I remember seeing dolphins players said no one understood their assignments all season on defense.

Miami Dolphins players also complained when Vic Fangio was there defensive coordinator and he's one of the better defensive coordinators in the league..thinks it's obvious like Deshon Elliott said about them they "soft" and I wonder who started the soft culture and upheld it ? Maybe the former head coach or maybe the general manager simply drafted and signed soft players

Well, he doesn't seem to have a great X's and O's component, which we explicitly needed.

I also think we need and want a more modern and younger guy. Anthony is 45 but he is a mature 45. I don't think he will connect well with the younger players. Also the comments about Miami's defense being soft kinda put a damper on him. He has the attitude and mentality, just not sure he would fit our team that well.

Not undermining his success but Sam Darnold played really good in 2024 in the same offensive system with the Vikings. It's nice that he was able to get his offense to be second in scoring but the Viking already shown the blueprint on how to use Sam Darnold. Only thing the Seahawks had to hope for was for Darnold to continue to play just as good if not better and likely not mess up in the playoffs. Klint Kubiak likely will bring good coaches with him but if it's only regarding the offensive side then is that really enough?

Sounds like people are suspecting Davis Webb could land in Buffalo due to his connection with Josh Allen. That would make a lot of sense as a connection. Could totally see it happen as an opportunity Webb may like better than ours, if there's a competition

Yeah I hope this crazy coaching cycle finally gets the NFL to change interview rules. You think the Falcons & Giants may have wanted to bring in McDermott before making a decision on Harbaugh & Stefanski?

They should just make all interviews begin after the Divisional Round. No virtual or in person interviews until the Monday after the Divisional Round.

If they wanted to go with a offensive mind, and are worried about losing Joe Brady, firing McDermott to promote Joe Brady to Head Coach seems to make the most sense. Then again, Joe Brady was at LSU with Burrow and I thought the Bengals would fire Zac Taylor to reunite Joe Brady and Burrow to keep Burrow happy.

They could have waited

How would changing the interview rules have benefitted either the Giants or the Falcons? I see no material change in either outcome. The result of McDermott being fired has no influence over the Giants or Falcons outcomes. The only possible way to do that is if you require no interviews or hiring of new coaches period until after the Super Bowl or something since anyone could be fired up to that point.

Joe Brady also makes sense. Brady may also want to move to another OC spot if he feels he won't be back under new regime.

I want someone like Mike McDonald , a mini me clone.
