The Lamar, The Watson and The Doubters

well part of the problem is other teams have been able to focus on him, this season, since we have no other real pass rushers. I think we would have had more sacks if we had a pass rusher on the other side. Last year it helped having both ZDS and Suggs and they all shared in sacks and ZDS and Judon both had about 8 sacks last year

This is his best year in pressures though, by a long shot.
And no real pressure from inside all these years

I'd pay him more than what ZDS got. Judon is better player.
... and I'm really wondering if the team feels that way too and it was one of the reasons that they let ZDS go. It could be that they felt Judon presented the better long term option and wanted to give him the prove it year to show if we'd put him in the category of player that we don't let go.

I'm sitting here watching clips leading up to the game and everyone said Watson over Lamar. Keep going doubters.

I see the Judon situation a bit like the value for running backs, teams are hesitant to pay running backs because the difference between the veterans who got paid and guys on the rookie scale hasnt been enough to justify the difference in salary.

I see it as the same for Judon, 6 sacks in 10 games isnt really a game breaker against the pass and I would argue his biggest contribution is against the run, does that deserve more than what 4/66 deal that Z.Smith got? maybe to another team.

Take the Patriots for example, they dont pay edge rushers or linemen, they pay signal callers and DBs and theyve got the leagues best "historic" defense... also notice how after we got torched by the Chiefs we brought in some signal callers and a DB and it turned our defense around.

Sacks is a pretty lousy metric to measure how successful a pass rusher has been because it has too many variables. Last I saw it quoted, Judon has the 3rd most pressures in the league and is one of the highest % guys in the NFL when it comes to beating his blocker. I usually do favor paying the secondary versus paying the front 7, but Judon basically ended multiple drives with this big tackles today.

The reason the Ravens had to make a trade for a corner though is because they have no real pass rush. outside of Judon, so they have to manufacture it with blitzes and to do that you need a complete secondary. If the Ravens had 2 other decent pass rushes then they would not have to put as much pressure on the secondary to be perfect.

We have a complete secondary and our front 7 are getting coverage sacks now, Judon got a coverage sack and was unblocked on the other one, that means his two sacks were given to him.

The reason why he doesnt convert pressures into sacks is because hes a straight line athlete and lacks agility, his combine 3 cone was 7.67 which is pretty bad for a pass rusher. Thats not to say he doesnt have value but how much is 7 sacks a season worth?

Brandon Williams is putting together the best season of his career by far. He's done a great job and he deserves to make the Pro Bowl. He's stepped up big time in the pass rush.
Seems he is finally healthy, been coming on strong the last few weeks. Watching him chug across the field chasing Watson to the sideline was a joy, dude is a beast.

It's almost unfair that we get to field the corners we do! There was one replay where they followed each Texans receivers routes.
You wanna pass to Hopkins? Nope, Jimmy Smith has him locked down.
How about Kenny Stills? Oh wait, he's in Marcus Peters' pocket.
Well what about the other guy? Ah no, Marlon Humphrey is busy taking his lunch money.

It's just unreal that we get to have these guys, and then Earl Thomas patrolling behind them!

So we pummeled the Dolphins, we destroyed the Bengals and we smothered the Texans. Media each time we beat the Dolphins and the Bengals said they were bad teams. What is the excuse going to be this time?
WalterFootball (yeah I know) has had the Ravens in his "overrated" category for weeks - even after we beat the Cheetahs on primetime. He had the Texans covering as his pick of the month for November and his comments section is roasting him and it's glorious. Going by his recaps it looks like this is the week even he came around on Lamar (for the most part).

Its generally because the QB has awareness and gets rid of the ball. Watson last game held that ball way longer then he should have playing hero ball and that got him sacked. Ignoring speed, Lamar would have dumped it off or thrown it away on over half those and suddenly the sack number looks less impressive. The strength of the rush and the effect it had on the game wouldn't change, but the measurable you use to judge it would.

I know it’s crazy right? A month ago we were shittin’ billets trying to figure out how to fix this defense. Lol

almost like he's been reading our board and knowing how many of us want him gone at the end of this season and next season.

I would like a compilation of all the analysts out there saying Watson is better than Lamar, how they would take Watson over Lamar, and Watson is ahead of Lamar in the mvp race, followed by Lamar outperforming Watson by a mile.

I get that the ravens are a better team, but Watson threw to Hopkins when he broke open on slants from the slot, and aside from that he couldn’t do a goddamn thing. He looked horrible, sucked at progressions, wasn’t exactly throwing well, poor pocket poise, panicky in general. Lamar as usual was cool as a cucumber and he was in total command of the game, passing and running.

He’s a lot more refined than anyone outside of Baltimore wants to admit, he looks far from a 2nd year running qb

Look ,Lamar can't even finish a full game so he clearly lacks stamina . This is a problem going forward.
