General Draft Thoughts

Listening to the conference call presser it looks like with the depth of the draft and where the vast majority of our picks are, EDC says we're looking for the first 7 picks to all be impact prospects that will pay dividends for us straight away

for sure - its just really hard to predict them which makes it really hard to predict who the ravens will pick because of how late we pick

not only that but there's always trades and outside of trades for QBs its so hard to predict trades because they only really come to fruition on draft night in very quick time
 
It'd be funny if GMs have 12 hours per pick in this coming draft. And then Goodell makes them fill in a roster page and SoF spreadsheet.
 
I can't wait for the draft. School sucks and I can't focus on anything when I'm at home and not going to my classes. The whole coronavirus thing is super depressing. I love the excitement of draft night, and spending the following days watching highlights and dreaming of football again. I could really use some of that right now.

What would you all think of this one? I wasnin no way trying to go overly offense, but it just fell that way for me lol.

Okay. Best one to date. I don’t know how realistic Troy Dye falls that far, but would be nice to get him in the 3rd.

I did some research and found that DeCosta and/or Ozzie had draftable grades:
185 players in 2020
205 players in 2019
105 players in 2017
180 players in 2014

What I found for other teams is that they usually have 160-180 players per year. Patriots are pretty selective, as I found years where they only had ~60 players on their board.

Overall this isn't a very deep class, but you can still find quality players in the later rounds.

i think this draft is deeper than normal in terms of day 2 type grades but the talent falls off a cliff when you get into the mid-late 100s which makes sense

might need to trim my board a little (currently at 215 draftable players)

only 105 players in 2017 is crazy lol

the last two years have been deep in day two as the conversation we are having this year vs. 19 and 18 is relatively the same. That being said, this year it could go from the day to to early day 3 (4th round) and that shows how deep this years class actually is.
 
This is how many players there are at each position before there's a significant drop off on my board right now:

DL: 9 prospects (after Davon Hamilton at 60, the next guy on my board is McTelvin Agim at 108)
EDGE: 3 prospects (after AJ Epenesa at 12, the next guy on my board is Jonathan Greenard at 39)
LB: 5 prospects (after Malik Harrison at 51, the next guy on my board is Willie Gay Jr. at 76
S everyone's lower than they should be so it's hard to say
CB there's never really a major drop-off except maybe right at the top
QB: 2 prospects (after Tua)
OT: 12 prospects (after Matt Peart at 102, the next guy on my board is Alex Taylor at 162)
IOL is fairly consistent in terms of drop off through the draft right the way to 160+
RB: 7 prospects (after Zack Moss at 109, the next guy on my board is Lamical Perrine at 141)
TE is a mess of prospects and I don't feel like there's a major drop-off really anywhere in the class
WR: currently adjusting WR so not sure where it is - it feels like its between the 1st group and 2nd group of guys but i feel like Hamler is kind of bridging that gap a little right now lol

For those wondering about TV Presentation....

As Peter King reported on Monday, the 2020 draft is expected to consist of a joint ESPN/NFL Network production televised by both networks.

Via Marchand, the draft will commence with the Commissioner announcing the first pick, either from his home, his office, or some other isolated location. (The better play will be for the Commissioner to announce the first pick from his home.) Then, ESPN’s Trey Wingo will, from the network’s Bristol studios (i.e., don’t expect any videos of any bears on Wingo’s porch), will set up the top draft analysts (Mel Kiper, Booger McFarland, Louis Riddick), each of whom will be in their homes.

Booger on Draft Day: The Bengals had the number one pick because they had the worst record in the league, which allowed them to take Joe Burrow.
 
Why can't we get ANY intell on who the ravens have met with?
Wf has had the same seven guys since February but has extensive lists for other teams. I did hear that we had a private workout for Javaris Davis planned before restrictions.

they have always been pretty secretive, but with all meeting snow being virtual, it's almost impossible to get any info.
