Why does it feel like there’s like 10 teams this season that have really good front 7s lol

Honestly there has been a plethora of front 7 talent available lately (I would put the Ravens as one of those 10) and some decent secondary players as well where 4 or 5 teams can claim elite shut down secondaries. Honestly the biggest problem NFL teams have right now is only 2 or 3 teams can claim to have great OLines whereas so many others seem to just be a massive liability.

there's lots of good looking front 7s although most seem to lack at least 1 element - like the Rams having nothing really at outside pass rusher or the eagles seemingly having a weakness at off ball linebacker

i think its quite clearly still going to be jags vs vikings for best front 7 in football this year

but you are absolutely right that there looks to be a lot of great looking front 7s (at least on paper to start the year)

Jags
Vikings
Ravens
Bengals
Rams
Bears
Chargers
Texans (if they stay healthy)
Eagles

id say outside of these teams every other team in the league is unlikely to be dominant but these 9 could all be crazily dominant upfront

The Panthers front 7 is pretty scary too

People can hate on the Donald and Mack deals, but they have the cap and window. Suh is one year, Talib I think 2-3 and a bunch of young bucks. You're not paying the qb yet either. You put the best team out there possible and worry about the consequences later. Bears are in a better spot cap wise I think. They basically just went through a complete rebuild so everyone is young. Qb 2nd year, rookie Smith, and Floyd in 3rd year. I don't think they have any crazy cap hits either. Before this move I said they had a low key good defense. Going to love watching Mack finally play at 3-4 olb which I think he'll KILL in.

Exactly why the Rams are loading up now, it's what the Seahawks did. They got by on the cheap contracts and their dynasty got killed with everyone wanting to be paid. Plus paying the QB premium for Wilson.
I wouldn’t call the Seahawks a dynasty, but that’s exactly what the Rams are doing.

Accurate picture to who is running the Oakland Raiders right now.

Roquan Smith becomes a great LB and that front seven is likely one of the most dominant in football and if Mitchell Trubisky develops at all, you have a super bowl team. Dumb trade.

And now Edwards is gone

They will probably get rid of the entire front 7 and install the first entire db player defense

interestingly the bears get a 2nd rounder back from the raiders which is not something i expected

what's interesting is basically it sounds like ownership wanted to keep mack, reggie mckenzie drafted mack and he was one of his stalwarts - jon gruden is ripping out the reggie mackenzie players from that team - the only real proper one left is derek carr

Real shame what he is doing. Maybe Gruden would like a kicker and punter

Mark Davis is one of the poorer owners in the NFL. He has to pay a $ 325m relocation fee and they just haven't got the necessary cash flow to pay Mack. Imho the media downplayed that aspect.

Edwards was apparently frustrating the entire front office all year.

I know people are outraged, but you are correct- the Raiders had zero money to actually pay Mack once that Donald deal came out, knowing you're likely looking at $90M guaranteed and a $50M signing bonus.

On the surface it appears they traded a defensive cornerstone, but they did not have the money to essentially pay a second quarterback.

well, glad raiders fans got to take a peek at contention for the first time since like 03, but back to the cellar you go. this is chip kelly on steroids, at +least kelly has a system built for the modern NFL, gruden has literally said he wants to bring it back to the old school, yet here he is destroying his defensive trenches on a team with next to nothing at secondary. i have ZERO faith in the raiders under gruden, absolutely none. they even gave up a 2nd in this trade, at this rate the bears will almost certainly be picking in the bottom 8 for the next 2 years so its not like theyre getting some mega steal, at this point, the raiders need a browns level of picks in days 1 and 2 over the next 2 years, they need like 8 picks in the first 3 rounds for the next 2 drafts to get back to relevance. theyre gonna be fucking abysmal.

Raiders released Martavis Bryant because he is facing another long suspension for substance abuse. That dude is never going to learn.

Well Donald no longer has the biggest contract, Bears just made Mack the highest paid player overall. 6 yrs 141m 90m guaranteed
