Dolphins placed CB Xavien Howard on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.
Returning from a knee issue Monday evening, Howard apparently suffered a new one. He was on the field for just 47-of-74 plays. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports it is not an ACL or MCL injury. This has the feel of an overly-aggressive move from an actively-tanking team, but something clearly isn't right with 26-year-old Howard's knee. There is no need to risk further injury this season. Howard just signed an extension through 2023 last spring. He will be back as the No. 1 corner in 2020.
