Around the NFL: News and Rumors

The league pussy-footed around on Ray Rice until they got the video. The video changed everything. Doesn't make sense why, but that's how the public reacts.
Find a video of Watson shooting his load on an un-wanting masseuses back, and I guarantee they act faster.
Why would you wish such abject misery on an old man?

More Lawyer stupidity..... sure let's exclude the fact Ruggs drinking led to him driving excessive speed and rear ending and killing someone.

Steelers destroying their cap on a Safety. Didn't work so well for Seattle either giving Adams a bunch of money.

big aav increase
but pretty similar in terms of guaranteed money to the deal we gave marcus williams (albeit we've got a 5th option year on the end of williams deal) and a much lower aav overall
the structure will be important but this isnt necessarily actually a massive market reset

Damage control continues... "if we hire a female as a GM then people will see we do care about Women and forget we paid $230M to Watson."

73m over 4 yrs vs 70m over 5 years is a big difference.

Agree the structure is very important as always.

I am loving this and the Skins fan like it even more.
While I enjoy the public spectacle and gossip as much as anybody...
What actual accountability does Congress have? They can't force the NFL or the Commanders to do anything.

Me personally... I kind of find this whole thing pretty comical. Like its a total indictment of our society. This is why I continuously mock the public so much.

Things the general public cares about:
1. Dan Snyder's libido, and the desire to have him self a wildly profitable franchise, which he will reap BILLIONS of dollars for in a sale, because he's basically just a terrible manager of people and bad person.
2. The NFL apparently not having the power to be the judge, jury, and executioner of an employee, and giving him a $240M contract instead.

Things the general public doesn't seem to care about:
1. Having Congress, who are elected officials, do literally anything of real value. We don't care that they spend taxpayer money to do public sideshows to make an NFL owner look bad, despite having absolutely zero legal authority to do literally anything about it. It's purely just a PR stunt by elected Government officials.
2. The fact that a high profile athlete can seemingly sexually assault dozens of people, and there was virtually no chance at any point where he would be held in any sort of legal trouble over it. I've yet to see a person publicly be outraged by the fact that our legal system can't do anything about this. But somehow, we're cool with outsourcing it to... the Browns.
And the general public applauds this... LOL. What a time to be alive.

Not to mention that the idea of blasting the Browns for paying Watson $240M, but promoting the NFL force a rich person to sell his franchise for a tremendous profit, cashing out for Billions, are two gigantically contradictory thought processes. And yet, they represent the majority.

And you wonder who no real problems are ever solved in this country. Because the public is more mesmerized by whether an NFL owner is getting a hummer from a cheerleader or not.

We, collectively, as a society, have EARNED ALL OF THIS. We deserve it.

Ah yes... let's add bribery to the list of things Dan Snyder has done. He sent investigators to the accusers home and offered hush money.

Also how tone deaf do you have to be to post this if you work for the Commanders currently....

What's the problem with the tone? You don't think Snyder knows what he's doing? LOL.
He's trolling Congress. He knows they don't have the power to do anything, so he's making them look like the mockery they are.
And he's got several actual Congressman who think same, based on the questions they asked Goodell yesterday.

Damn..... even Virginia wants nothing to do with Snyder.

What does this have to do with VA? The RFK site is in DC.

it has nothing to do with VA

D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson says he’s ready to support Mayor Muriel Bowser’s request that Congress sell or transfer the RFK Stadium campus to the city, but only on the condition that no future football stadium be built there.

Bowser has said she wants the large plot of land under city control so it can be used for housing, parks and recreation, and possibly a new stadium for the Washington Commanders. D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton has said she will introduce legislation to transfer the land, but only if Bowser and Mendelson both support it.
