Signings, Cuts, Trades

I really can't envision a big trade market for Judon frankly. If he were a free agent, I could see him landing a good deal, but I don't know if teams want to give up the draft capital it would take to pry him from us.
I’d take a 3rd and a late rounder for him at this point if it meant landing Yannick or Clowney. Was hoping for a 2nd, but with the draft coming up, his stock is probably trending downwards. I’m excited to see what these next weeks before the draft bring

Clowney is not a good deal. Too much money for not nearly enough games.
Fair point, but I’d trust Wink to rotate him and keep him fresh like I’m sure he will with Wolfe, which could result in them playing a full season. It’s not like we haven’t committed money to an oft-injured impact player before. Clowney is just too damn good to pass on especially when his market is declining

Honestly I would pick the Browns to finish above the Steelers and its not even close. Browns have an actual team whereas the Steelers seem to have gone as far as they can kicking the can down the road. They may need to actually just bite the bullet for a year so they can rebuild properly.
I wouldn't count them out. The Steelers were 8-8 last year with bad 2nd and 3rd string QBs on the roster. They can't get worse, but its true the division should be tougher this year also. That being said, we don't exactly play the toughest schedule in the league either.

But as you start getting closer to the draft and there are no takers for Ngakoue and he isn't signing his tender, then do you think the Jags will look at more reasonable offers? Like Houston did for Clowney? But, after some thought the Texans do have BoB leading them so there's that...

not signing his tender means basically nothing until we get to training camp

and the texans managed that situation so poorly that clowney's value tanked - if the jags are going to trade ngakoue they have to do it before the deadline for an extension is up or his value drops significantly

I think The Ravens envision the same outlook for Pernell Mcphee and look what happened. He still got injured and that was because the coaching staff didnt trust their younger edge rushers to handle their responsibilities outside of rushing the passer consistently enough. Its easy to say that The Ravens can keep Jadeveon Clowney fresh by rotating him in and out on the field with other edge rushers but you got to have back up players that are actually worthy enough to see the field. if not then you going to just have to over use Clowney like The Ravens did with Pernell Mcphee until he got hurt.

Given your suggestion it doesnt make sense for The Ravens to trade Matt Judon and then sign Jadeveon Clowney especially since this year draft is weak at edge rushers and given how much of a wild card Tyus Bowser, Jaylon Ferguson, and Jihad Ward is. If anything The Ravens would be better off having Jadeveon Clowney and Matt Judon.

The Ravens gambled on oft injured players that turn out to be a impact players for their team when they signed Anquan Boldin and John Brown. The only difference is that both of those guys were offensive players and wouldn't cost 15 million or more.

this doesnt mean anything for the team but odd timing that we would release a guy during a pandemic without needing his roster spot...

In all likelihood it doesn't mean anything, but I do believe there's another DE out there (I'm dreaming out loud, so what?)

Wonder if he just became expendable after the Campbell and Wolfe acquisitions and the Ward re-signing. He's built in a similar mold and plays a similar role. Wouldn't think it's anything more than roster evaluation and seeing a guy that didn't really have a shot.

is it not worth still having him there as a camp body? he's not costing anything because of rule of 51 and he's not taking up a roster spot we need because we're nowhere near the 90 so it just seems strange not to have him there

Would guess age has something to do with it to an extent as well. Turning 28 this year. Might as well get someone younger and more of a project than someone that probably is what he is at this point.

Timing is interesting but don't think there's much more to it than a guy that didn't really have a spot anymore after the moves and is on the older side for a guy still trying to pave his way.

We need to find a way to sign Clowney, especially if he is willing to take a short term deal

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports free agent Jadeveon Clowney is willing to sign a 1-2 year contract.
Clowney has already been forced to lower his asking price. Now he seems to be trending toward a one-year, "prove it" type deal. Fowler reports the Browns may have come the closest to signing Clowney to this point, but that nothing is imminent.

the shorter the contract, the harder it is for us to fit him under the cap... that's the major problem with this

I know that, but may be able to restructure someone to get him under the cap. I'm not a big fan of restructuring, but in certain circumstances it makes sense.

Maybe Judon lowers his asking price too. The one difference is Judon is tagged and Clowney isn't.

Can we just please trade him already? I have a feeling we’re going to extend him for the same amount Clowney is asking Per year if not more, and I’ll be livid because Clowney will probably go to the Browns

What in the sweet flying fuck are you talking about? Randall is with the raiders, MVS is still with the packers, and Jaylen Samuels and Benny snell have shown nothing of significance so yes we are paying attention, along with James Conner being the most overrated rb in the league. You come in hot with mad disrespect and a shit attitude and then spit out one falsehood after another. Fuck off. You’re the shittiest poster on this forum hands down.

Raiders just signed him smart guy. Check the date I posted that.

And Samuels has shown "something" like wtf are YOU talking about? Smh Snell performed well as a rookie when given the opportunity and if I'm not mistaken ran for 100 yards and a TD vs us week 17. It's always you responding to me yet your always wrong lmmfao.

he's the only one responding to you because most of the forum likely has you on 'ignore'

Randall has been with the raiders since way before you posted that. So I’m not wrong. And you’re still a bitch
