Signings, Cuts, Trades

Henderson's a monster pass rusher. Him being hurt last year is the only reason he was affordable. He's finished 6th, 5th and 4th in the NFL in win rate over the past 3 seasons. The age and injury concerns are there, I get it. But we also get to keep both 1st round picks on top of it? Weirdly enough, we're arguably in a better place now than we were several days ago.

I also wonder if we would have signed Simpson thinking we had a full draft.
I saw somewhere Simpson’s deal doesn’t even have any gtd money

As expected, the reality was somewhere in the middle with the whole Maxx ordeal. The Ravens did try to go back to the Raiders and see if they could keep the trade in place for a lesser return, but they said no. So they would have taken the risk on the knee, just not as the price they paid. Physicals are weird subjective things.

The clearest things I'm seeing from a reporting perspective is:
1. What the Raiders think about his long-term knee issues isn't the same as what the Ravens, the Cowboys, and a couple independent physicians thought about it. And those opinions didn't formulate until Tuesday, apparently.
2. They were actively negotiating with Hendrickson before Crosby ever landed in BAL.

Yep all of this is accurate as well. Don't think the Raiders were necessarily trying to pull one over on anyone, but they just had more optimism related to the state of his knee and thought they were in the clear. A whole host of other people thought otherwise. And I'm sure if you kept extending that pole, some would jump on the Raiders side too. Just open to interpretation and the level of risk you're willing to assume.

That’s exactly what I thought happened. We said we would do the deal but not for 2x 1st round picks + the injury. Raiders balked saying they felt we tried to pull a fast one and said “no, you agreed so deal with it” and we said “no, too much risk for that price” and that’s it.

It's easy to have the optimism when you're not the ones exchanging 2 1st round picks, isn't it. Let somebody else pay the same price if they feel so positively about it.
Apparently the Raiders still want their 2x 1st round picks so we will see if they lower their price any.

I do wonder if the Raiders could come back to the table if they don’t get any suitors. I know they’re mad not but if nobody comes they either lower their price or they stick with him. If they lower their price, sure pride could make them not want to go back to BAL but I could see them come back and try to work out a deal since we already discussed a lowered price and they declined.

Seems reasonable on both accounts but let's face it, they were never going to agree to a lesser deal.

Gutted we won't be seeing him in a purple jersey anytime soon but at least I have some interest in night one of the draft now!!

Do we have the money though? We have to somehow find about 45 players haha

The curious question is if LV will be forced to agree to a lesser deal. I’ll be shocked if anyone trades for Crosby at the current price.

The money is the least of my concerns. If there’s a will to have Crosby we will find a way, whether it be by a Lamar extension, a Crosby restructure, or some other restructures.

There’s nothing salvageable between the Ravens and Raiders at this point
