Signings, Cuts, Trades

What a great looking deal this is from all the details so far - he comes in cheaper than Tunsil on a per-annum basis and is locked in until he's 31 as he's only just hitting his prime (and has already got 1 all-pro to his name)

but as others have mentioned this also opens up the ability to franchise tag someone else this offseason if we need/want to

when the dust settles we'll see the yearly cap hits and see what it does to next year's projected cap space but with this and the marlon deal done it makes the offseason a lot less stressful - we've got the 2 deals done we absolutely had to get done and now we can see how the rest falls without worrying too much and with the Ngakoue trade we also have options - the right of first refusal on Ngakoue and Judon and Bowser maybe gives us some leverage over all 3 (unless they all have the same agent lol)

I still can't believe we signed him for under 20m average, due to Tunsil getting 22m. Not only did Tunsil get more in avg annual salary, he also received more in avg annual guarantees (13.3m vs 11.7m).

it's ridiculous that we get him for that much less per year than tunsil

yet another good reason Bill O'Brien was fired

important thread regarding ngakoue and judon and their prices on the franchise tag this offseason

ngakoue because of the lower priced vikings deal is going to cost significantly less than judon if tagged in 2021 - potentially could be around 5m less

Listening to Ronnies presser, its quite clear he loves it here and wanted to be a Raven. So much appreciation for Ozzie taking a shot on him. Im sure that had a wee bit to do with his price tag. Good shit.

22.5m signing bonus for ronnie - so this is likely going to be a fairly flexible contract when all the salary numbers come out

I know I’m late to the party but heard the news when it broke and I just want to say HELLLLL FUCKIN YEAAAAAA

They should have the all the flexibility they want. All depends on the salaries (or what I think are roster bonuses, given the $70M in total guarantees, but those aren't treated too much differently from salary from a cap perspective anyway).

If the salaries are roughly flat (say, starting at $10.9M in 2021, increasing by $500k each season, then jumping to $18.9M in 2025 when the signing bonus proration falls off), they could keep his cap hit between $19M and $20M each season (except for 2025, when they could either extend him or eat $3.25M in dead money to cut him). They'd also have a potential out in 2024 if he really falls off ($20M cap hit, $11M in dead money).

Bruh I still can’t believe we managed to steal ngakoue... decosta is an absolute madman, such a power move and I’m sure everyone is scratching their heads wondering how tf were even managing our cap like this
