Neither do I.

That being said... I could, potentially, see it as an option mid-season, similar to the Yannick trade. If we get into October/November, and we either face injuries or feel like another WR is going to put us over the top to a Lombardi, a mid-season trade makes more sense, because then we pay less of his salary. If you end up waiting until closer to the trade deadline, which would put you like late-October, early-November timeframe, you'll only end up paying in the 50% neighbor of his salary, or around like $7-8M. Becomes much more affordable at that point.

I think a lot of the media reports from guys like King and pretty much everyone else basically don't even take the salary cap into consideration at all. Even if you assume we have ~$10M in cap space right now, with a lot of it already been spent on players that we drafted, signed or are already on the roster currently but don't count against the cap.

Our official cap space right now is $9.3M, which includes most of the significant spend on the rookie class. You'll need about $3.5M more in space to add two additional players to the 53 man (rule of 51 currently) and to fill out a practice squad. That'll put you down below $6M in cap space, and you've added no players we already aren't counting on.

Most teams carry $3-5M in cap space into the season to account for injury replacements (injured players count towards the cap, as do their replacements), mid-season signings, etc.

So essentially, practically any player we "add" beyond this point who makes the 53 man is likely going to require a contract restructure to sign them. Based on what I see, there's about $7-8M in available contracts that could be restructured to create space, and most of that comes from Stanley.

So for me, the absolute ceiling of cap space you could create would be in the range of $10M, which won't get you Julio now. And that means going into the season with limited or no cushion at all.

The $ just doesn't add up for me.
I agree. You aren't even taking into account the team possibly wanting to have some rollover cap for next season. I believe cap considerations and that we drafted Bateman and Wallace are two reasons we don't go after Julio and that would include the trade deadline. Titans and Chargers both have about 20m in space and I wouldn't be surprised to see him land with New England, but I doubt he ends up a Raven.

Wouldve been nice but its not gonna happen. Tbb i dnt even want him. People gonna expect lamar to throwing for 4500 and thats never gonna happen. Shit idk if he can even reach 4k.
definitely hard to do with 400 attempts. He had 400 attempts in 2019 with slightly over 3100 yards. He didn't play 1 full game and 4 games he left the game almost a full quarter early. That still wouldn't have been 4000 yards if it's prorated. Now with a 17th game it's possible, plus maybe more pass attempts, but on the same volume I don't see it either.

Honestly there's a good chunk of teams that make a ton of sense, but if he truly "wants to win", that list is a bit shorter. You've got some teams with the cap space to pull off a trade, like Jags, Jets, Broncos, Redskins, Chargers and Lions, but I'm not sure any of those teams instantly become contenders by simply adding Julio.

49ers and Patriots make plenty of sense, as do the Colts. I think all three of those teams could easily have or make a couple moves to get the cap space to add Julio. One would think trading him to the AFC would be preferential.

I don’t know, give Herbert a Julio and you might see some explosion happening

Maybe. For me, lack of playmakers on offense isn't an issue for the Chargers. Allen is one of the best chain movers in the league, Williams is a TD machine, and they had Hunter Henry also. They could probably use another addition, but to me, that's not their issue.

Oline play will take them farther, but to be honest, I don't really know why they haven't been better for the last several years. They've got some pretty good players on that team. Coaching may have been a factor, but like Herbert was, I thought, a top 10 QB last year, and that team still wasn't a playoff team. They were competitive and lost a lot of close games, but their only like "signature" win was week 17 against KC, with no Mahomes.

The San Angeles Chargers have been victim to a LOT of bad luck over the past many years

Analysts are still clinging to the ravens landing Julio, as are the sports books.

Where is this coming from?? Pre draft I got it, but now? I just don’t see how it’s feasible or even sensible

I think there are a lot of delusional individuals who believe we are either in a fantasy football world or a Madden world

Well it appears the Sportsbooks have largely adjusted. We're not the favorite.

Via DraftKings, we're behind the Falcons, Chargers and Patriots (all at +500) for odds on which team he plays with in 2021. We have same odds as Colts (+600), and just ahead of the Raiders and Titans.

Most of the international books I've seen have us in that 5 or 6:1 range, but we're definitely not favorites for him anywhere that I see. Patriots are pretty much the favorite everywhere, and then it's a wider range.
