Signings, Cuts, Trades

with the CBA, confirmed cap amount being 2m lower and this deal it's a minefield lol

Yeah I took my best guess earlier but throw this trade on top and I'm not going to sit here and pretend I know anymore lol. I'll leave it to the experts once the details come in. I can guess on structure and stuff, but no idea how it's affecting things from a higher, team level now.

hard to say until we see the breakdown of signing bonus vs base salary etc. but we're likely not going to have basically anything meaningful left

my guess is carr gets cut to save another 6m but we still with draft picks factored in etc. wont have a huge amount of flexibility albeit we are now operating with rule of 51 which lessens the impact to some degree
So obviously we can't pick up a tier 1 free agent, but how about tier 2 (Schobert, Emmanuel Sanders, etc.)?

dude mims would be a steal for me at 28 - i think he's potentially WR 2 in the class lol - i've got him currently fluctuating between 8th and 13th in the draft class on the big board

so at 28 on my board would be a major steal

had hollywood at 11th last year on the board
Thank you.. I just read he was a little raw with some drop concerns, but maybe I'm thinking of someone else

Curious to see what EDC does with Judon. If we keep him, I hope we at least have enough cap to pick up one more impact player, preferably Sanders or Schobert

not sure who that would be - mims isnt a ninja route runner but he's not raw and might have the best hands in the class lol

tbf this board is probably a lot higher than the consensus on mims but tbf post-combine the media are catching on lol

I think with the cap space left over there would not be much room to do that and if Carr is cut there is a BIG problem at corner is regards to depth because its suddenly gone. The defense is stacked on the surface but the depth is non existent

i think they're both not going to be possible - schobert for sure wont happen after CJ reset the LB market last year - sanders is marginally more likely but still basically a no go given that his contract last year was around 10m and no way can we afford that right now

Outside of Carr, Judon is the next big domino to fall. If we are intent on trading him, it has to happen soon. Can't imagine that they're looking to trade him and not be in on some of the second tier pass rushers. With Campbell in the fold, can't afford to do that without something happening with Judon anyways.

I was always of the opinion that he was staying regardless, but if they did tag him just to trade him, they can't wait. His $15.8M does us no good in a few weeks when there's nothing left to buy.
I was of your mindset earlier that Judon was a tag and trade candidate, but after Campbell's trade I think we're all in to go after the Lombardi this year and next so we may already have a deal in principle with Judon for an extension. I think more than likely Carr will be a cap casualty especially if they can bring back Jimmy for under 6MM/yr. But, we shall see what else the magician (EDC) has up his sleeve.

Oh i cannot wait to get into calais campbell 2019 film guys

this helps us in a massive way with the draft class too - if we get jihad ward and mcphee signed we're in a really good place even before free agency begins
Of all the coveted free agents from Clowney all the way down Calais Campbell is the one player I really wanted and thought would improve our D multifold and make our team an instant SB contender. It happened. Thank you EDC.

At this point I kinda want to keep Judon. We know what we are getting and he already is comfortable with our scheme. Not sure we can find a replacement in the draft or via FA that Wink can have confidence in as a moving chess peice.

An undervalued part of Judons game is being able to drop into coverage and get in the right place so we can bring these exotic blitzes and other looks. Not sure I'd trust a new guy who hasent played in this scheme for that role
