Eh that isnt really the right way to think about it. He would playing on 6m with 3m that just exists no matter what. You could cut him after 1 year and he is still having a 3m cap hit.

but a lot of these guys are either coming off injuries or arent that effective right now
hightower for instance, is not that far off what he used to be but last year was completely victimised in coverage on repeat
Id take clowney…
Clowney definitely fits our scheme and is a very good run defender, but he may want more than we are willing to pay. I wouldn't mind Ingram on an inexpensive deal.

correct. It is basically a 1 year deal whether he is cut or retires and I'd expect him to retire after next season and yes we would essentially have a 2.5m in dead cap assuming all of this year is guaranteed.
