Signings, Cuts, Trades

With Pernell re-signed, we've really whittled down the FA list and not much left we really need to be focused on...

Definite Interest:
Chris Board - non-tendered as an RFA but should be back on a cheaper deal
Tyus Bowser - likely to test the market and see what his value is
Jihad Ward - testing the market to see what his value is
Derek Wolfe - should get done at some point

Never Say Never:
Matt Judon - likely too expensive but I'd guess they'll revisit if the market isn't what he thinks
Yannick Ngakoue - ditto

Take it or Leave it:
Anthony Levine - he's the ST captain and they could once again bring him back for the minimum

Likely/Confirmed Gone:
Dez Bryant - confirmed gone
Morgan Cox - confirmed gone
DJ Fluker - lost a lot of trust down the stretch and wasn't that good for us
Chris Moore - guys with actual positional value have taken over his gunner role
Matt Skura - time for new scenery
Willie Snead - time for new scenery

Yet to be Tendered ERFAs:
Khalil Dorsey - surprised he wasn't tendered but not hurt
Johnny Townsend - was only brought in for the 1 game
Antoine Wesley - hasn't played in 2 years

I think how the Judon/Ngakoue situation goes dictates what we do. If both those guys walk, or we let them walk... we have to replace production in both of those positions. There's no body right there to step up and I'm not really aware of a placeholder type FA that would come cheap. If we have to spend money there, WR - at least any top guy, is then out. I still think the WR value is with AJ Green, Ty Hilton, or Higgins. If the Ravens agree, then you commit to either of Judon or Ngakoue - or another near top tier. Dupree would be awesome, but Von Miller wouldn't upset me and I think he's more in our budget. If we're more aggressive on guys like Miller at LB and Green at WR, it gives us flexibility in addressing other places like Safety and OL. Two Von Miller types are almost more valuable to us than one Bud Dupree. :)

Von Miller a) isn't currently a FA, b) doesn't appear likely he's going to become a FA, given that the GM indicated they want him back and c) I think will still be considerably out of our price range.

I think the general expectation from a lot of us, true or otherwise, is that a good chunk of our cap space is going to be spent on the offensive line, by adding probably at least two players. If that's the case, based on what I see cap wise, the ceiling for any pass rusher addition in FA, is probably in the $8-10M range, and I'm not sure its that high. Von would certainly be above that price point, even if he is cut (which seems unlikely), and so will Dupree, Judon and Yannick.

The only way these guys return, or we're able to get players in that group, is if FA values are wildly lower than we're expecting. I think there could be some compression in the FA class, but I also think that's probably going to be centered around your more "tenured" FAs. I think guys like Judon, Yannick, Dupree, etc. will still have pretty robust markets.

My best guess is they'll try to keep Bowser, add a cheap FA or two as edge rushers, and then look to the draft to replace them. I think the Ravens fully realize that its unlikely we go into the season with like an "alpha" rusher, and they're probably going to take a more quantity over quality approach until they can draft/develop some guys.

Unpopular opinion but JuJu would be a good fit for this offense. Quit the little girl social media shit and play. I wouldn't mind

loved him in the draft and through his first years in the league

he's not dominant but he'd be a great complement to a group especially with how effective he is out of the slot at his size

more importantly is 100% off our board as a target because of the DV case

and given the way some "premier" rushers have struggled to produce within our blitzing scheme my guess is that as long as they've got "guys" they like - even if they're not super-talented - that they trust Wink to be able to dial up pressure schematically with the blitzes (as he has done the last 3 years no matter what the personnel is)

Exactly. And he’s one of the best blocking WRs in the league

Trai Turner released

Chiefs restructured Mahomes contract. Cleared $17M against current year cap. Cap hit for 2021 down to about $7M and change.

It’s not a DV case. At all. They decided not to pursue any charges and closed the case weeks ago, they are civil and planning on raising the child together.

you have called this a DV case time and time again but there was literally nothing to suggest there was DV and it is now water under the bridge.

what happened was, von knocked up an IG thot, he was like oh shit wtf am I gonna do? He got emotional and said some ignorant shit, that frankly should’ve been taken in context and kept private, and she exposed their conversations to the public.

both sides were wrong in a stressful and emotional situation and literally nothing happened other than some shitty texts.

I mean, thats fine and all, and it probably shouldn't be labeled as DV...

However, if I'm the Ravens, I could easily just decide not to pursue a guy (who again, isn't likely to be available to begin with) based on those texts alone. Mistake or not, doesn't really matter.

I personally think the Ravens "stance" on DV is pretty bogus to begin with, but if your stance is basically that you don't want people of a low enough character to treat somebody like this, then you shouldn't be signing him.

And character is probably more important than it should be, given how badly they got burned with Earl Thomas, who really just appears to be a total trash human being by all accounts.

And keep in mind... the whole "charges dropped" aspect really doesn't hold much weight with the NFL or even society for that matter. From a legal perspective, there's no record of Ray Rice doing anything wrong either. He knocked his wife out cold on a video, and he went into a diversion program, did a song and dance, and now has nothing on his legal record to reflect any wrongdoing.

Oh my #SIIE brother, we'll agree to disagree. I want nothing to do with him and his tomfoolery. That being said, I root for all Ravens to succeed so if he, by some reason, becomes a Raven, I'll root for him to ball out.

Except ray rice was on film committing assault to his wife.

von Miller said a shitty thing on a text.

big difference.

Everything else is fair though, should probably have more humanity than that for your own fiancé, but again, context matters and it’s a scary situation for him and said some irrational shit, when my wife told me she was pregnant with our 2nd child I had a panic attack on the spot, doesn’t mean I didn’t want to have a kid, it just meant that my mind was in a certain space when I learned this life changing info and it drew a negative reaction, don’t know why this was ever blown so out of proportion and it certainly is not and never should have been considered DV and it never should be again because that is a heavy accusation and it’s false

Mate wait till your wife says a third is on the way lol

DV doesn't need to be physical but at the same time I've written some fairly average stuff when angry so I can understand

I mean... the reality is that neither you or I will probably ever know. Generally speaking, I give law enforcement credit for not opening an investigation into DV based on just some text messages. Maybe they did, but its kind of the old "when there's smoke, there's fire" kind of thing. Probably wasn't any physical abuse, but with people as high profile as this, I usually don't rule out anything in between just a shouting match all the up to physical altercation and neither the girl or anybody else wants to press charges.

That being said, I agree they're different. But the point is in the court of public opinion, they're really not all that different. Who thinks Earl Thomas can't get an NFL gig because everybody thinks he can't play? Of course he can play. He's at least an average Safety in this league, and could start for most teams in this league. Some Owners just don't want to deal with shitty people that aren't special. And like, I don't think 32 year old Von Miller is special anymore.

Owners can make their own decisions on who they want to blacklist and they don't, and quite frankly, they don't need to justify it to anybody.

Get snipped or pull out. I can't intelligently defend anybody who decides to have more than 2 kids. I know plenty of people that do, and I think they're all bat-shit stupid.

I got friends who have 4+ kids because they keep trying for a son. How is 3 estrogen-filled bodies in your house not enough of a deterrent to quit trying?

Who cares if you have a boy? Its like a 3:1 ratio by that point. Son isn't ever going to be mentally OK.

Cool, guess I'm bat shit stupid then. Good to know.

ok - still not gonna be on the ravens board because he's exhibited the kind of behaviour that would likely take him out of the ravens' equation...
be it actually DV by the letter of the law or not - it's still visibly trash behaviour in a domestic setting

tbf sounds like with Earl Thomas it's the players who don't want him around - I think it was the Texans who were going to bring him in last year but the locker room literally petitioned the front office not to bring him in

with ET it sounds like he's an actual locker room cancer and the rest of the league seems to know about it (sounds like the Texans players had been talking to the ravens players before he was brought in there)

sorry what? that's an absolutely gross way to talk about women and girls
am i misunderstanding or are you being deliberately and needlessly misogynistic?

I know brother. I feel the same way, but he’d be perfect for our offense. I always thought Mike Wallace was a little bitch until he came to the Ravens, so there’s always hope
