Thoughts on signing Tre Boston, a FS who was cut from the Panthers. From what I've read he is a poor tackler but is one of the best coverage safeties in the league and is still relatively young at 29. I wouldn't mind bringing him in if he's cheap and having him play obvious passing downs since Elliott and Clark are more in-the-box safeties.

Would make sense. And probably a full guaranteed base salary of maybe $1M this year, and probably a partially guaranteed base salary next year. Thinking maybe he could come in around a $5M cap hit this year if I had to guess right now. $12M signing bonus, $4 in base salary guarantees - $1M this year and $3M next year.
I dont think there’s a reason to pigeonhole that right now. Zeitler will be your RG and obviously we have the Ts in place currently pending their situations. Bozeman just opens up the options in the draft or FA if we go that route. No need to look specifically at C or G. You pick the best player and put Bozeman where he best fits.

Couldn't agree more. My point is if we aren't able to find another upgrade, although that's unlikely, would we slide BB over?
Also think that’s a decision that doesn’t need to be made now. Bozeman probably would slide to C if we played a game tomorrow but we’ll have an entire training camp to figure out the best configuration if by some miracle we didn’t add another body or two.

but from what i watched i did see that the giants running game has some "fit" related similarities - it's a right-handed power/gap based scheme with a lot of pulls from the left side - Zeitler was asked to get into level 2 a lot (and did well with those sorts of things)
what was really nice to see was he's clearly got that high-level awareness and processing - really good picking up twists and stunts with his eyes up seeing what's coming - stays balanced and doesn't over-react to games that target him - trusts his anchor
to me he seems unspectacular but solid - i have a sense he's possibly not as powerful as he was a few years ago but i've seen a couple of clips of him pancaking guys using his upper body strength in 2020 which is a positive sign
probably an open competition at those 2 spots with the expectation that Bozeman would fill one of them
as it stands my expectation if we played a game tomorrow would be the line to be Stanley, Bozeman, Mekari, Zeitler, Brown - but with the understanding that they're not keen on Mekari as the full-time starter
another option is Ben Powers getting an opportunity to compete for the LG spot (where he played at oklahoma)
but i'd expect that competition right now to be Mekari, Phillips, Powers, Bredeson, TCC fighting over that spot at LG/C
if we could add Creed Humphrey/Landon Dickerson to come in and fill C, I think we've got the makings of a very good OL - obviously we'll have to see what happens with Orlando at right tackle

Yanda is taking over where Weddle left off lol. Great signing, how the Vikings or any team didn't outbid us is crazy given what we paid him.

Personally, I would love a TE (been saying it and saying it
), and Ertz would be an awesome fit. But if a trade were to occur, Philly would have to absorb some of his salary. His cap hit is 12mil. If we were on the hook for just his salary, 8mil and we could negotiate an extension into the trade and signing that would extend him a year out on Andrews, in case he doesn't re-sign, then I'm in. But if that happens or Kyle Rudolf or something of that nature, then we are in store for a AJ Green type signing at WR..... which I still don't understand the opposition to. He was coming off injury last year and playing for a team that often seemed like they had moved on from him.

Take this for what it is worth which isn't much. Last year was Zeitlers lowest pff ranking since 2011 and by far. Hes had some actually elite grades like 2 or 3 years ago. The giants had like the second worst line in the league last year so I'm hoping his relative down year for himself was a function of scenery and not a decline. Whats funny though is given that supposed pff down year, he would have been the second highest ranked player on our team last year.
Obviously the structure is important and how much of the contract is guaranteed in year two and three. If it's team friendly than this could be a very good deal. He had a dropoff in play last yr but was still above average in both run and pass blocking on a very bad offensive line. Not only that, in 2019 he was one of the best guards in the NFL.

would suggest that this was the highest his market got (or at least very close to)
i wonder if feliciano getting just under 6m/yr basically set Zeitler's market - he wasn't going to get top of the league guard money and there's a significant gap looking at the contracts ranked between the upper tier and the middle tier in terms of guard money - zeitler landed at the top of the middle-class tier
