Signings, Cuts, Trades

well i was super confident we still had space after the moses deal because his deal only really impacted the cap by around 2m (because of rule of 51)

the longer the deals we do, the more likely the first year cap hits are low, which makes it easier to get more guys

i imagine ZDS's 1st year cap hit is going to be like 5 or 6m, williams is going to be similar too, moses is less than 3m - rule of 51 makes it even easier to accommodate those hits

a marlon restructure (if we max it out which there's no reason not to given how early we are into his new deal) we get 7m
we could also restructure stanley for 6m+ too - id be a little odd to do that with a guy you have some doubts about but also not as risky as it might seem because his 2022 salary is guaranteed so you dont increase the guaranteed money in his contract by restructuring... you only change when that money gets counted
I would never recommend restructuring Stanley for any of the players left on the market. That's a recipe for disaster.

And as I said before, I don't think the Marlon restructure is really going to be "spendable"

Adding one premier talent in RD1 and getting younger on the DL have gotta be the new goals right? Obviously fill out the backend of the roster too

IDL we might get lucky and find good value on the better talent in R2 and R3 but it's a thin class at the top outside of Davis and then 5 or 6 guys who might get taken later in the 1st through to early 3rd and a couple of them aren't really 3 down interior DL (a couple of them: Leal and Hall are more tweener types and may spend more time at 5t or even on the edge and reduce inside at times rather than being full time interior DL)

if we dont go jordan davis at 14, and we assume that wyatt's definitely gone before 45 then we're probably looking at only these guys realistically with a chance to add legitimate talent at DT

Travis Jones
Phidarian Mathis
Perrion Winfrey

there's some day 3 guys who are intriguing, especially at nose, but their upside looks to be not much more than rotational run-stuffers - if we want 3 down DTs we're probably looking at one of those 3 and unless we're super lucky with Mathis falling to the 3rd round pick because his draft season hasn't been flashy like all the other guys then we probably have to take one of these guys in R2 if we want one

so it's not for sure that we wont get one, but it's definitely no guarantee that we will be able bring in that infusion of young talent this year beyond maybe some rotational pieces

it's why i think the ravens should still be looking to see if they can add eddie goldman or bring back michael pierce

idk what the 2023 class looks like at DL but i hope it's deeper than this one - i know it's got at least one top 10 type talent at DT though already in Jalen Carter (what's frightening about that georgia defence is that they've got all these day 1 and day 2 picks coming out this year but the best player in that front 7 isnt even draft eligible lol)

If you draft a top corner he probably isnt starting until 2023 so how is it a transcendent secondary? You have 2 all pro corners on the outside so any corner will not be starting there.
Lol if the ravens draft Derek stingley or Ahmad Gardner their snap counts will be at bare minimum 75% of what marlo and peters get. CB3 is a starter in todays nfl. Humphrey is at his best when he plays a lot of slot. They would be a starter

The Pack were 50 million over the cap because they tried to go for it and we have ZDS because they now have to start paying for the past 2 years. Before that they seemed passive but the past 2 years they went for it.
If they went for it, they didn't get Rogers an additional weapon. Other than Adams, who did he have?

Ok!!! Well the good thing is there are enough holes and money/picks that there are a ton of options on the board.

Von to the bills is scary.

A 6 year deal is strange tho. Gotta be for salary cap maneuvering

like even if they're not a "starter" in those terms, they'll still play a larger percentage of snaps than a "starter" at DL if we draft one high lol

6 years is odd because you can't pro-rate the bonus more than 5 years
my guess is maybe it's somewhat backloaded and there's another bonus in the contract that hits in 2023 that pro-rates as well (which would put some money into that 6th year)

The AFC seriously needs to stop though. This is getting ridiculous. I think they are stealing just about every single big free agent and trade and they were already the stronger conference.
